First Look at Virgin Voyages’ Alaska Season: New Events, Dining & More
First look at Virgin Voyages’ Alaska season, with exclusive Brilliant Lady Happening Events, regional food and drink, cultural programming, excursions and scenic experiences.

Virgin Voyages’ first Alaska season begins on Monday 11 May 2026, when Brilliant Lady sails from Vancouver to Seattle. Rather than treating Alaska as simply a new backdrop, Virgin is building the destination into the onboard schedule, dining, drinks, excursions and expert-led programming.
Virgin Voyages describe the season as “Exclusively Alaska,” with more than 20 Alaska-focused experiences spanning scenic viewing, cultural storytelling, port conversations, hands-on creativity, playful competition and regional food and drink. The idea is that Alaska should show up across the ship, not just during time ashore.
New Alaska Happenings Cast Roles
The program builds on Virgin Voyages’ existing Happenings Cast format, where a group of onboard hosts lead games, social events, fitness moments, parties and smaller pop-up experiences throughout the ship.

For Alaska, Virgin is expanding that format with two new Alaska-focused roles: The Naturalist and The Lumberjack. The Naturalist is designed to help Sailors understand Alaska’s wildlife and landscapes in real time, while The Lumberjack brings a more playful and performative connection to Alaska’s timber heritage. We have covered those new roles separately in our guide to Virgin Voyages’ Alaska-focused Happenings Cast roles.
Virgin is also introducing expert-led cultural programming through Alaskan Native Voices Cultural Heritage Guides, with sessions focused on Alaska’s ecosystems, conservation, Indigenous voices, modern realities and wildlife preservation.
Exclusive Happenings Events for Alaskan Voyages
Virgin has created a comprehensive seasonal overlay for Brilliant Lady, adding a large number of exclusive experienced just for these sailings. Some experiences are scenic and reflective, others are social or competitive, and some use technology in ways that have not typically been seen across Virgin’s ships before.
Virgin collaborated with Plug & Play Productions, Spark Cooperative, SUBMERGE and Georgie Hastie Creative to bring the Alaska experiences to life. Many of the production companies and creatives involved have worked on previous Virgin Voyages events and projects, giving them a strong understanding of the brand’s tone, onboard energy and the kind of experiences Sailors expect.
One of the clearest examples of this new approach is Headphones & Horizons, a wildlife-viewing experience using personal headsets and binoculars. Rather than broadcasting commentary across an open deck, the format allows live insights to be shared quietly while keeping the surrounding landscape as the focus. This feels particularly well suited to Alaska, where the atmosphere, scenery and wildlife are central to the experience.
The table below summarizes the Alaska Happenings currently known. Experiences marked with $ are expected to carry a surcharge. Final pricing, booking requirements and inclusions will be confirmed once the season begins, with bookable activities appearing in the Line Up section of the Virgin Voyages app. For more on how onboard events work, see our guide to booking Virgin Voyages events.

Alaska-Inspired Food and Drink
The Alaska program also appears to extend into Brilliant Lady’s dining venues. Early details suggest Alaska-inspired specials may appear at several restaurants, including The Wake, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Rojo by Razzle Dazzle and The Dock.
These menu details have not yet been confirmed through final onboard menus, so they should be treated as a preview rather than a guaranteed list. The early selection points to a focus on Alaska seafood, game and regional ingredients, including venison, salmon, cod, halibut, king crab, smoked salmon, huckleberry, birch syrup and lingonberry.
| Venue | Included Alaska-Inspired Item | Treat Yourself ($) |
|---|---|---|
| The Wake | Grilled loin of venison | Pan roasted Alaskan halibut |
| Pink Agave | Achiote spiced salmon | Chorizo crusted black cod with Alaskan king crab |
| Extra Virgin | Alaskan Seven Fish | Squash wrapped halibut with king crab-stuffed zucchini blossom |
| Rojo by Razzle Dazzle | Roasted cod | Grilled squid with king crab, marcona almond and chorizo shellfish sauce |
| The Dock | Smoked salmon taramasalata with kalamata olives, pickled pearl onion and pita chips | – |
Alaska-inspired drinks and tasting events will also be offered, including hot toddies, spiked mochas, local Alaska Brewing beers, hot cocktails and spiked hot chocolates.
Taken together, the Alaska food and drink program suggests Virgin is trying to make the destination present across the ship, not just during port days. Sailors should see Alaska reflected in the restaurants, bars, tastings and hands-on classes throughout the sailing.
Alaska Excursions: Shore Things Beyond the Ship
The Alaska experience will not be limited to Brilliant Lady. Virgin Voyages has also previewed a large excursion program for the season, with more than 250 Shore Things expected across Alaska and British Columbia, including 75 experiences described as exclusive to Virgin Voyages.
The line is leaning into a mix of scenic flights, glacier experiences, wildlife encounters, cultural stops and regional dining. We’ve covered the early Alaska excursion lineup separately, including several of the standout Shore Things expected for the season.
