How to Order at The Galley

At The Galley, you have two convenient options for placing your order and one grab and go option:

Are canned soft drinks e.g. Diet Coke, Tango free on board?

    Thank you

    1. It’s all Coke products. You can order cans from Ship Eats or they have some at Sip Lounge https://vvinsider.com/guides-and-faqs/guide/ship-eats-room-service/

    1. Hi Jenny, it’s working here can you try again?

  3. Jon says:

The new Pad Thai is pretty good and quite spicy with a generous sprinkle of chilli flakes

    1. me says:

where did you get Pad Thai!!!!! One of my favorite thai dishes – how did I miss it in April?

      1. It’s part of Menu B it just recently launched so may not have been on your sailing!

  4. Dan Kennedy says:

We’re on a transatlantic at the moment, and there’s a Galley menu 2 today, the first time I’ve heard of it.

    1. Hey Dan, the link will only work on the ship are you able to email us the PDF? Is this the one with Feta Late than Hungry?

      1. Tracey Marshall says:

Yeah there is a rotating menu – even on short cruises i noticed!!! There is Menu A and Menu B for the Galley. They have different sandwiches and the noodle bar does pad thai. Im not on the ship at the moment but came here to look for the menus

        1. Great news, I did get a picture of this menu last month but wasn’t sure if it was just a trial. I’ve added the menu now 🙂

      2. Dan Kennedy says:

Oh sorry I missed your reply whilst onboard. Glad you managed to get a copy of it now, and even more pleased I was one of the first to try it!

        1. No worries! Glad you enjoyed 🙂

  5. Sally says:

The Galley has something tasty for everyone and you can walk around and pick and choose, eat one of everything, etc. Only areas that gets jammed up are the All Day Breakfast/British Fry Up and the adjacent Burger Bar counter. The staff has to juggle the walk-up requests and then the seated waiter service requests. The eggs cooked-to-order are the logjam, as everything else is ready to go. On sea days the lines can get very long.

Burger Bar tips: ask for your bun to be toasted, and cooked long enough to melt the cheese if you’re having it. There is no Burger Sauce, so go to the Salad Bar and ask for a dish with Thousand Island Dressing – then add some ketchup and stir = American-style Burger Sauce (not hot and spicy).

The coffee bar for pay-for cappuccinos and such can get very long – understaffed in the morning which makes no sense.

Soda station – taste test your Coke Zero soda before walking away – the mix of syrup to carbonated water was off quite a few times so we left our glasses and had to start over with something else.

Ice dispensers are often empty – walk around to the other side to check for ice.

Read they don’t do buffets and instead do galleys but in videos and photos it certainly looks like they have buffets still and this article says the stations have items available to take over the counter (aka buffet) as well as grab and go options. So while love that they offer many more made to order options than typical main dining they certainly also offer buffet just like many cruises buffets also have stations with made to order options.

    1. Sailors can’t serve themselves in The Galley except for to go boxes. So it’s not a buffet style setup. More order at table.

    2. JWolf says:

I’m on Scarlet Lady right now and there are no buffets. It’s all made to order at counters, grab and go kiosks, or sit down restaurants with servers handling orders.

    3. me says:

It is not buffe – they cannot get people to comprehend – take a seat and flip the red flag up. Most have no idea, they are just used to how they have cruised in the past. Because Americans kepts insisting on getting in a line to order, VV just rolls with two options – take a seat, or stand and order at each individual station. If you are getting food from a variety of spots, it is better to sit, flip the red flag up and order.
