Virgin Voyages recently informed sailors aboard the October 6, 2024, Mayan Sol Valiant Lady cruise that their itinerary may change due to the rapidly intensifying Hurricane Milton. The storm, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico on October 5, 2024, has already caused disruptions for several cruise lines, with Virgin Voyages being the latest to announce possible changes to their sailing schedule.

Official Letter from Virgin Voyages

In a letter sent to sailors, Virgin Voyages shared the following message:

Ahoy, Sailor(s),
We’re excited you have chosen to sail with us and look forward to showing you the many experiences that Virgin Voyages has to offer. Before you embark, we wanted to share some important information with you first.

Due to Tropical Storm Milton, which you may have seen, we are reviewing our current planned itinerary to avoid the path. Our experienced Crew is closely monitoring the situation and reviewing our options at this time. We promise to keep you fully informed, and our Captain will make another announcement prior to sail away about any itinerary changes.

Rest assured, our Crew will assist with making any changes that may impact your voyage, including booked Shore Things.

Once you embark, feel free to explore and enjoy everything our beautiful Lady Ship has to offer, and let us make this a vacation of a lifetime for you. Should you have any questions, our epic Crew is always available to help.

We hope you have a wonderful voyage with us!
Bon Voyage,
Virgin Voyages Crew

Potential Itinerary Changes

The 5-night Mayan Sol cruise is set to visit Costa Maya, Mexico, and the Bimini Islands, Bahamas. However, with Hurricane Milton’s unpredictable path, these stops, including the beach club experience, may be altered to ensure passenger safety. Virgin Voyages has assured that any changes will be communicated, and they are closely monitoring the situation.

Sailors are encouraged to enjoy their time aboard Valiant Lady, taking advantage of the ship’s many amenities, even if the weather forces changes to the planned route.

Ongoing Storm Impacts

Hurricane Milton comes just as the US East Coast is recovering from Hurricane Helene, adding further challenges for cruise lines operating in the region. Sailors should stay informed as the situation develops, and Virgin Voyages is committed to ensuring that safety remains the top priority for all aboard.

For those with shore excursions or other plans, including visits to the Beach Club at Bimini, Virgin Voyages will be providing updates. Their crew is ready to assist with any changes, and the cruise line remains dedicated to delivering an unforgettable experience, even in the face of unpredictable weather conditions.

They ended up canceling Bimini and replacing it with a stop in Cozumel. Had one rough night and morning at sea but otherwise it was still a great trip. Our first VV cruise and loved every minute of it. Thank you for all the great info you provide, it helped us so much!

Glad the cruise was able to go ahead, shame about missing Bimini but great they had an alternative !
