Virgin Voyages has now completed the rollout of a new beach towel policy across all ships in its fleet, with Resilient Lady becoming the final ship to receive the updated towels yesterday. The change was already implemented on Valiant Lady and Scarlet Lady a few sailings ago.

What’s Changed With This Policy?

Under the new policy, each cabin is now provided with two beach towels designed specifically for use ashore. These new towels feature a unique design exclusive to Virgin Voyages and are larger than the standard white pool towels available onboard.

Sailors are encouraged to take these towels with them on shore days, especially when visiting the Beach Club at Bimini. The Beach Club has also introduced a check-in and check-out system for towels, meaning guests who do not bring their cabin towels may find access to towels more limited than before. The days of a free-for-all towel setup at the club appear to be over.

Charge Per Towel If Not Returned

If a towel is removed from the cabin and not returned before disembarkation, a $25 charge per towel will be added to the sailor’s folio.

Community Response

The updated approach has sparked a bit of debate in Virgin Voyages fan circles. Some sailors have praised the new towels for their size and convenience, noting they’re better suited for the beach than the previous pool towels. Others have criticized the change as another example of “nickel and diming”, especially given the new $25 fee for unreturned towels resembling the policy of less luxurious cruise lines like Royal Caribbean. Overview

It’s clear that towel loss had become a broader issue that Virgin Voyages felt needed to be addressed. While the policy may take some getting used to, the ship-exclusive design and larger size do offer a more purpose-built option for time ashore.

For now, standard white pool towels remain available throughout the ship and do not carry a penalty if not returned.

“…resembling the policy of less luxurious cruise lines like Royal Caribbean..” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😂😅🤣🤣 hahaha. Virgin more lux than Royal???? Keep kidding yourself if you must!

  2. Diedre Parker says:

I’m sure they were tired of losing money because they had to keep buying towels. Just return their stuff back to the boat.

I can understand it. Currently sailing on Resilient Lady and was surprised when I went on a catamaran excursion and a couple of people just left white pool towels on the excursion for the catamaran crew to deal with rather than take them back to the ship.

This isn’t nickel and diming. Just return the towel after you are done, how hard is that! Dah!

    1. LisaG says:

Totally agree! Some people are just too lazy. And it’s only onshore and they can be exchanged for clean ones. Really no big deal, people!

  5. Emily says:

Can you exchange your towel for a clean one? If so, how and where?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Yes at Bimini or ask your cabin host.
