Virgin Voyages has confirmed that Tracy Arm Fjord will be removed from its Alaska itineraries for a second consecutive year, with Brilliant Lady instead visiting Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier during the 2027 season.

The change follows the same adjustment made to the cruise line’s 2026 Alaska sailings. Virgin Voyages says continued landslide risk in the Tracy Arm area remains the reason for the change.

Virgin Voyages is also fine-tuning 16 Brilliant Lady Alaska and Pacific Coastal sailings for 2027. Changes include Victoria replacing Prince Rupert, tender adjustments and changes to selected port times.

Tracy Arm Removed for a Second Alaska Season

Tracy Arm Fjord was originally scheduled to feature on 13 Brilliant Lady Alaska itineraries in 2027. However, Virgin Voyages has now confirmed these visits will not go ahead because of the continued landslide risk in the area.

The same change was made during the 2026 Alaska season following safety concerns around Tracy Arm. This means Brilliant Lady will now visit Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier for a second consecutive season.

Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier Return for 2027

Instead of Tracy Arm, affected voyages will cruise through Endicott Arm towards Dawes Glacier.

Endicott Arm offers a similar scenic cruising experience, with steep granite cliffs, waterfalls and floating ice along the route. At the end of the fjord is Dawes Glacier, an active tidewater glacier.

During the 2026 Alaska season, Virgin Voyages offered an optional Fjord & Glacier Boat Tour priced at $450 per sailor. The pricing proved controversial, although the excursion provides a much closer view of Dawes Glacier than is possible from Brilliant Lady.

The experience transfers sailors directly from Brilliant Lady onto a smaller vessel, which can travel further into the fjord towards the glacier.

Affected 2027 Alaska Sailings

The following 13 Brilliant Lady sailings are affected by the change from Tracy Arm to Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier:

Victoria Replaces Prince Rupert on 12 Sailings

Virgin Voyages is also replacing Prince Rupert with Victoria, British Columbia, on 12 Brilliant Lady sailings following direct sailor feedback.

Brilliant Lady will spend a full day in Victoria from 10 AM to 6 PM, providing time to explore the Inner Harbour and historic downtown.

On affected itineraries, the previously scheduled Prince Rupert visit becomes a sea day before Brilliant Lady calls at Victoria.

Inside Passage and Other Alaska Itinerary Changes

Inside Passage cruising will now appear as a sea day on affected itineraries rather than being shown as a separate itinerary entry.

This is only a change to how the itinerary is displayed. Virgin Voyages says the scenic cruising itself remains unchanged.

There are also tender and timing adjustments at Juneau, Sitka and Icy Strait Point on select sailings.

The August 24, 2027 sailing will now leave Victoria at 6 PM instead of 11 PM due to local harbor restrictions.

Virgin Voyages says the ship assignment, voyage length and core onboard experience remain unchanged across these updates.

September 10 Pacific Coastal Sailing Also Changes

The updates extend beyond Virgin Voyages’ Alaska itineraries, with the September 10, 2027 Pacific Coastal sailing also receiving a change.

Astoria, Oregon, has been removed to accommodate tidal navigation windows in Vancouver. An additional sea day will take its place.

In return, Brilliant Lady will spend longer in San Francisco, remaining in port until 11:59 PM.

Sailors will automatically receive a $33 per person refund for the applicable Astoria port taxes and fees.

What Happens to Booked Shore Things?

Sailors who have booked affected Shore Things directly through Virgin Voyages do not need to make the changes themselves.

Virgin Voyages says these bookings will be adjusted or refunded automatically where necessary.

Anyone who has independently booked a tour or excursion will need to contact their third-party tour operator directly.
