Sailors can now earn Virgin Points on full-fare Virgin Voyages per person per night, adding Virgin Voyages into the Virgin Red brand.

Virgin Voyages is now an official earn partner on Virgin Red, joining Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Hotels. While spending Virgin Points on sailings has been possible for a while, this update means sailors can now earn points back on their cruises too.

Earning Virgin Points at Sea

Sailors will earn 100 Virgin Points per person, per night on eligible sailings. To qualify, the cruise must be a full-fare (not significantly reduced rates unless offered by Virgin Voyages) booking made directly with Virgin Voyages or First Mates.

After the sailing, an email will be sent with a unique promo code. This code can be entered into the Promo Codes section of the Virgin Red app or website, and points will be added to the member’s account instantly.

For example, a 5-night cruise for two people would earn 1,000 Virgin Points once completed.

Extra Earning for US Cardholders

US-based members with the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard can also earn points when booking. The card gives three Virgin Points for every dollar spent with Virgin Voyages, Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Hotels. On a $3,000 cruise, that’s an additional 9,000 points earned just by using the card.

One Virgin Account, Multiple Travel Brands

With this update, Virgin Red now allows travelers to earn Virgin Points across three parts of the Virgin brand — flights, hotels and cruises. Whether flying with Virgin Atlantic, staying with Virgin Hotels, or sailing with Virgin Voyages, points can now be collected along the way.

Virgin Red membership is free, and all points sit in one shared account, making it easier to keep track of what you’ve earned and what you can use them for later.

What to Know

  • Cruises must be full-fare and booked directly with Virgin Voyages or First Mates
  • Only Central Sea Terrace cabins are included in points-based bookings
  • Promo codes for points earning are sent after the sailing
  • Points can also be spent on cruises, flights and stays through Virgin Red

Do they still have the program to move points from other cruise lines reward programs?

Status Matching is still available for Sailing Club: https://vvinsider.com/guides-and-faqs/guide/sailing-club/

You can now also book any cruise using Virgin Red points. The minimum amount is 305,000 points, that is for 5-day cruises. I guess the two 7 day European cruises I got for 120,000 and 180,000 points were deals of the century. Glad I took advantage.

  3. Frances Brown Brown says:

Unfair on the people who work in the travel industry to book these cruises, it’s encouraging us to ditch our first mates!

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Direct bookings includes first mate bookings

  4. Gary Morris says:

Wow… so once I’ve completed 300,000 five night cruises I will almost have enough for a free one! Does someone at Virgin Red think this is an incentive?

    1. Gary Morris says:

Correction… 300 cruises… but just almost as unrealistic as 300,000!

  5. Mark Jerrom says:

What does ‘full fare’ booking actually mean … no MNVV??

And does it apply for bookings already made or is it from this point on?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

No significantly reduced rate i.e interline, etc

  6. GP says:

do you earn points booking a rockstar cabin? or if they have a promotion running– this is not clear at all.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

You earn 100 person per person per night regardless of cabin type
