My Next Virgin Voyage's New 2024 Offer

Following a reveal from the onboard sales team; Virgin Voyages will make significant changes to its popular “My Next Virgin Voyage” program, reducing the value from the previous offer. The new benefits are now based on the length of your voyage, providing up to $250 off the Voyage Fare and up to $250 in Sailor Loot (onboard spend) credit.

For some voyage lengths this is a reduction of $150 in Voyage Fare and $450 in Sailor Loot. This change is in affect from July 31st, 2024.

New Benefits Breakdown by Voyage Length

4-5 Night Sailings

The least value is on those sailing from Miami for shorter weekend or weekday sailings.

  • $300 deposit removed from your next sailing
  • $150 off the voyage fare (-$150)
  • $150 onboard Sailor Loot credit (-$450)

6-8 Night Sailings

For those on standard European or longer Caribbean sailings.

  • $300 deposit removed from your next sailing
  • $200 off the voyage fare (-$100)
  • $200 onboard Sailor Loot credit (-$400)

9+ Night Sailings

The most value will be for those on longer sailings including Transatlantic repositionings.

  • $300 deposit removed from your next sailing
  • $250 off the voyage fare (-$50)
  • $250 onboard Sailor Loot credit (-$350)

Other Changes

The new structure marks another perk removal from Virgin Voyages after many changes over the past several months. This change is a big blow to those sailing out of Miami on the shorter 4-5 night sailings.

What’s Different?

  • The reduction in the voyage fare discount and onboard Sailor Loot credit.
  • 3 Night Sailings such as shorter sailings from Portsmouth can no longer use an MNVV.
  • The 60-day limit on getting the maximum Sailor Loot has been removed, providing sailors with the full 24 months to take advantage of the offer.
  • The “Lasting Glow” offer, which allowed sailors to purchase placeholders after their voyage, has been discontinued.

Existing Placeholders

Sailors who have older “My Next Virgin Voyage” placeholders can continue to benefit from the existing terms attached to their offer. The older offer provided significantly more savings:

  • $300 deposit removed from your next sailing
  • $300 off the voyage fare
  • $600 onboard Sailor Loot credit (reduced to $300 if not booked within 60 days)

Conclusion

The new “My Next Virgin Voyage” benefits package introduces both reductions but returns flexibility. While the immediate perks have lessened, the removal of the 60-day Sailor Loot limit put in place on February 1st, 2024 allows sailors more time to plan their next voyage.

This is a really bad move. They have gotten rid of the incentive to book on board with these changes AND getting rid of the 10% off for booking in advance and paying in full. As a solo traveler paying double for a sea terrace, this is the only way I would book. Virgin is going to lose their loyal following if they don’t put the brakes on these awful changes. Raising cruise fares to double and triple what they were a year ago, raising prices of the drinks by 20% and doubling the ship eats fee from $5 in 2022 to $10 in 2024 is outrageous!

    1. John says:

I totally agree. I miss traveling during the pandemic. Empty ships, empty planes, low prices…it was bliss!

  2. BrainDad says:

How about Less Than Sea Terrace allowed for MNVV?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Terms remain the same as before

  3. Steve says:

If you recently got off a cruise is it too late to get MNVV?

    1. Robert Sammons says:

Typically yes but they have the lasting glow offer it that will be ending midnight tonight https://www.virginvoyages.com/post-voyage/the-lasting-glow

    2. Kristen Unterberger says:

We have at least 1 (or 2) MNVV vouchers expiring 5 May 2025 that we would be willing to sell/transfer. LMK if interested. [Backstory: bought 3 on TA May 2023 & used 1 on repeat TA this spring. The other itineraries we intended using them for (Dubai to Singapore repositioning & Australia to NZ) got canceled & everything else really doesn’t fit our interests/availability.]

  4. Suzanne Whelan says:

Just crappy! They are getting rid of the best reason to rebook while your still on your cruise! This is going to hurt them in the long run!
They already got rid of the 10% off for both booking in advance & paying in full which I always did!
This is the wrong move VV bring all the awesome incentives back!

    1. Calvin Barton says:

I agree Totally. I called to discuss and they said they keep track of individuals who call to complain about it. So depending on response it may come back in the future.

  5. Lesley says:

I think the 9+ Nights amount is really mean. I get they have tailed back on benefit but I think the longer voyages should have stayed at $600 and pro rata down through to the short voyages. Nightly a 10 night cruise was $60 now it is $25, however a 5 night cruise was $120 now it is $50, longer cruises cost more so in my opinion should have better perks.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

The longer sailings per night can be cheaper think transatlantic for example but yeah $250 will not go far on board

  6. John G. says:

They should have at least left the $600 Loot for the 9+ day sailings. I’ll bet this change won’t be permanent. Time will tell.

    1. Lesley says:

I agree, the longer cruises cost more and you spend more, so should have better perks, it is a way better perk on the short cruises.

  7. Kerry Mullan says:

Rob I bought 2 MNVV’s, at that time (Jan 23) there was no limit to booking before 60 days and getting $600 loot. Have they re-neged on this as well?

Do you know of any agents in Australia other than My Cruises? I don’t really want to deal with the time differences and fare $ in USD. My Cruises are attached to my MNVV’s apparently (which I wasn’t notified about on purchasing two) but they are never selling any Virgin Cruises I am interested in and can’t help with others, so I have missed out on several cruises I wanted.

It’s hard not to feel that we’ve been ‘hung out to dry’ and deserted over in Australia by VV to be honest.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Hey Kerry, no your existing MNVV will keep the existing offer in place so you’ll have your full 2 years (did they extend to 3 years for Australians?)

Have a search on Facebook theres a few Australian specific groups I know of like “Aussie Virgin Voyages Deals and Info”

  8. Dave says:

I agree with Laura. This is not a big incentive to rebook. It was for us to rebook on our last VV trip. Now, we’ll think twice about rebooking any future VV cruises.

  9. Laura Erchul says:

I hate this change. I still love VV, but there sure is not the big incentive to rebook.

  10. Jack says:

Virgin is heading in the wrong direction and is losing my loyalty. Pay more, get less…that’s the motto for Virgin.

    1. Jon says:

What is the less you are not getting?

  11. Marie Cruz says:

    Is the cost still $300?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

      Yeah $300 deposit
