Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady, the first ship launched by the company in 2021, is set for a two-week dry dock beginning November 14, 2024. The dry dock will take place in Rome, before the ship returns to Miami on November 28, 2024 via a Transatlantic voyage. Alongside potential cabin changes on deck 13, a new restaurant is rumored to replace the current Razzle Dazzle.

Rumors from Behind the Scenes Tours

Recent leaks on one of the Virgin Fan Facebook groups, from sailors who participated in the Behind the Scenes tours, suggest significant changes. One sailor shared:

“During the Behind the Scenes tour a couple of days ago, we were shown around the kitchens by one of the executive chefs. He said that at the end of this season in the Mediterranean, Scarlet Lady would be replacing Razzle Dazzle with a new Asian restaurant. Going forward, Razzle Dazzle would be replaced on all the Virgin Voyages ships, with each ship having a different restaurant.”

Another sailor seemed to confirm these changes, noting:

“They were taking measurements for it after we sailed out of Civitavecchia last week. The ships are built in Italy, as far as I know, and the constructor was onboard with a team and with drawings of a ‘new Razzle Dazzle.’ So this information is correct. One of the waiters confirmed it to us as well.”

Potential for an Asian Restaurant

The potential for a new Asian inspired restaurant on Scarlet Lady aligns with Virgin Voyages’ recent ventures into Asian cuisine. The line hosted an Asian Night Market at Sea event in July, featuring a variety of dishes such as dumplings, bao buns, and pork skewers. This event was part of the Eat & Drink festival, showcasing the popularity and appeal of Asian flavors among sailors.

The Asian Night Market at Sea

Virgin Voyages introduced the Asian Night Market at Sea, a vibrant celebration of Asian culture and cuisine. Hosted in The Galley, this event allowed sailors to embark on a culinary journey through Asia, sampling authentic dishes and refreshing beverages that encapsulated the continent’s rich cultural tapestry.

Looking Ahead

The upcoming changes to Scarlet Lady and the potential for new restaurants across the Virgin Voyages fleet suggest more in the pipeline. With each ship potentially offering a unique dining experience, the variety and quality of the menus are set to enhance the overall experience especially for repeat Sailing Club sailors.

Keep Razzle Dazzle – Its my favorite and has the most Vegan options of all their restaurants. The atmosphere is funky instead of blah. Razzle Dazzle for the WIN!!

  2. Michaela Cornelius says:

All the asks for outdoor gym area, the net, the pools to be improved and instead we get more Asian food. Sushi, korean barbecue, ramen and poké restaurants are already on board. Maybe one ship will keep its Razzle Dazzle?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Realistically only so much can be done in a 2 week dry dock, expect very minor other changes but improving the pool and net whilst very welcome likely aren’t on the cards.

  3. Kayla Winn says:

Ugh…another Asian restaurant? How boring and uninspiring.

  4. Chris Doty says:

Don’t take away my Razzle Dazzle BACON!

    1. Kris says:

      Or açai bowl 😉

  5. Dave says:

I agree with some of the previoys comments. This is not good in my opinion! It seems like a backward move…. reducing rather than maintaining vegan / vegetarian options on board. I hope this is not the way VV eateries are going to end up, or all non meat eaters will just be stuck with a lettuce leaf and a carrot. Disregarding any spiritual, physical or moral beliefs or opinions, we all have a choice what goes in our mouths … its just some will have an unfair and greater choice than others.

  6. Laura says:

That would be a shame. I am a vegetarian leaning heavily to vegan and like that they have that restaurant. This is my favorite restaurant on the ships. So I guess I have to make the most out of it on my pre drydock Scarlet Cruise.
I hope they will add a proper pool as well :-).

  7. Shellers says:

Ugh they have a great brunch And Gunbae is already on board- why not do French or a seafood restaurant . Also I hope they add pool space somehow while in dry dock.

    1. Michaela says:

Seafood would be a welcome addition

  8. George says:

If this is true, I hope tat the razzle dazzle cake moves to the sweet side on deck 15.

  9. Joe T says:

We skipped Razzle Dazzle the last cruise and doubled up on Extra Virgin, The Wake and Pink Agave. We looked most days and Razzle had openings at prime times. The times we went on previous cruises it was below average.

  10. Christin M says:

I also loved Razzle Dazzle and it was my default go to place to eat. I was not a fan of the Asia Night market food in July.

  11. Richard Todd says:

Booo. I love razzle dazzle and was not impressed by the Asian market food. If they do anything just redecorate but keep the cuisine.
