Destination Unknown
A geography-themed interactive trivia event on Deck 6, testing knowledge, spatial awareness, and teamwork played on a large world map.
Event Details
Destination Unknown is a geography-themed interactive game hosted by The Happenings Cast. Created and produced by Plug & Play Productions, the event combines quiz-style questions around a large-scale world map, asking teams not only to know the right answer but also to identify where in the world that answer belongs.
The event takes place in The Roundabout on Deck 6, at the center of the large marble spiral staircase. Players gather around a large printed vinyl world map, which becomes the main game board for the session. The open location gives the event a visible, social feel, with teams competing in the middle of one of the ship’s busiest public spaces.
Destination Unknown is included in the voyage fare and is open to sailors who arrive at the posted time. Space around the map is limited, so those who want to participate should arrive early, particularly on busier sailings.

What to Expect
Teams are given whiteboard paddles and pens to write down their answers. The Happenings Cast hosts ask a series of geography-related questions, which may involve capitals, landmarks, distances, cryptic clues, or broader knowledge of countries and regions. Teams write their answers on the paddles and hold them up for the host to review.
Correct answers earn base points, but speed also matters. The fastest team to give a correct answer is usually given the chance to earn a bonus point by placing a small ship on the large world map. The team must position the ship as close as possible to the location they believe is connected to the answer, adding a spatial challenge beyond the written trivia response.
The map is what separates Destination Unknown from a standard quiz. Teams may know the country, city, or region being referenced, but still need to judge its approximate location under time pressure.
As the game progresses, teams can earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold coins, which are handed out in small treasure chests. The overall format is quick, social, and collaborative, with teams balancing discussion, fast answers, and map placement throughout the session.

Highlights Include
- Geography questions covering clues, capitals, locations, distances, and world knowledge
- A large printed world map used as the central game board
- Bonus points awarded for speed and accurate location guessing
- Bronze, Silver, and Gold coins handed out in small treasure chests
- A social setting in The Roundabout on Deck 6
- A fun trivia that rewards both trivia knowledge and spatial awareness

How to Attend
Destination Unknown is included in the voyage fare and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Sailors interested in playing should check the Virgin Voyages app for the scheduled time and arrive at The Roundabout on Deck 6 before the event begins.
Because the event is centered around a physical map, available space can be limited. Arriving early is recommended if you want to secure a place on a team and have a clear view of the game area.
Overview
The setting in The Roundabout helps give the event a lively, public atmosphere, while the use of coins and treasure chests adds a light competitive structure without making the format overly complicated. It is best suited to sailors who enjoy team games, geography quizzes, or interactive trivia formats that go beyond simply writing down answers.
