Directly from the shipyard, the newly refreshed mermaid design for Scarlet Lady 2.0 has been revealed. She was freshly painted during her dry dock in Palermo, Italy. This marks a significant update to the figurehead that has adorned Scarlet Lady since her reveal in 2018.

The Tradition of Virgin’s Leading Lady

Virgin Voyages has long embraced the tradition of having a “leading lady” on each ship, a twist on the historical practice of having a godmother or iconic woman represented on the vessel. Inspired by Virgin’s legacy in aviation, each ship in the fleet features a unique mermaid that embodies the character and spirit of the ship, with Scarlet Lady’s design evoking elegance, mystery, and strength.

Enhancements Beyond the Mermaid

Alongside the new mermaid, Scarlet Lady will undergo several enhancements during her dry dock. Sailors can look forward to a revamped Razzle Dazzle concept, updated entertainment offerings, improved spa and casino spaces, and new cabanas on Deck 16. These upgrades reflect Virgin Voyages’ commitment to continuously evolving and improving the sailor experience across their fleet.

A Fresh Look for Scarlet

The original mermaid design has been replaced with a new version that maintains Scarlet’s spirit but introduces a bolder, more dynamic appearance. The updated mermaid features larger hair with more curls, which now boast a deeper, scarlet hue—creating a striking contrast that reflects Virgin Voyages’ signature bold style. Additionally, the Virgin flag on the hull has been resized to provide a sleeker, more streamlined look that complements the other sister ships designs.
