Virgin Voyages has announced changes to its January 31st 2025 itinerary, originally part of the Dominican Daze sailing. Instead of visiting Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, the ship will now sail to Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos.

In a message to affected passengers, Virgin Voyages explained:

“To keep Valiant Lady ship-shape, our Crew needs to perform some extra maintenance that will impact the amount of time we have in port. To ensure we provide you with an incredible experience and the same amount of time in port stops, we’re adjusting our itinerary and replacing Puerto Plata with Grand Turk in the beautiful Turks & Caicos.”

Previous & Potential Future Adjustments

This marks the second itinerary adjustment for this route in recent weeks, following a similar change on January 17th. While no further changes to upcoming Dominican Daze sailings have been announced, it is possible for more schedule tweaks could follow. The next two Dominican Daze sailings are the Valentines Voyage on February 14th, 2025 & a further sailing on February 28th, 2025.

Possible Reasons for Maintenance

Although Virgin Voyages has not disclosed specific details about the maintenance work, the decision may stem from operational considerations. In December 2024, passengers reported minor issues on Valiant Lady, including plumbing problems and localized flooding. These were reportedly resolved on the same day, and the vessel, as one of Virgin Voyages’ newer ships, remains in good condition overall.

What This Means for Sailors

For those booked on the January 31st sailing, the swap to Grand Turk offers a chance to explore a new destination. Famous for its turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and relaxed vibe, Grand Turk is a favorite among Caribbean travelers.

Virgin Voyages encourages impacted passengers to review the updated itinerary and reach out if they have any questions or concerns.

We aren’t affiliated with Virgin Voyages, perhaps try emailing unless it can be answered by the thousands of articles on our website.

Is the valentine voyage 100% changed…… when’ will they offer excursions for grand Turks & I’m hearing the Bimini has some changes also can someone confirm

    1. Rob Sammons says:

No only the dates in January have changed. They may change that voyage given the January changes on this.

  3. Lil Doody says:

chose this cruise because it was a new port. been to Turks & Cacos before. disappointed as we had an excursion booked. now we had to schedule something not as interesting (to us).
a shipboard credit would have been nice….

Agree with Lil Doody. All of us who are affected with the itinerary Change , should at least be given a on board credit . Not a bar tab . A credit to be used for our choice . (Some of us are not going to benefit from a bar tab credit .). Also if Bimini has to be changed ( due to implicating weather ) passengers should be compensated. Also port taxes should be refunded.

We are going to be on this trip……. we were just notified on Monday. Kind of a real bummer as we had friends in the DR that we specifically chose this destination to meet up with them. I realize things change, but boy this really puts a damper on this trip now……………

    1. Lissa zimmerman says:

Sounds like already some people are very upset with the itinerary change from Purtua Plata to Grand Turk . Some people have been to Grand Turk , and don’t care to visit .Some people have had arrangements made to take place in port . All passengers should be compensated. They have paid for itinerary they have chosen . It is said this change is due to a maintenance.

      1. Jon says:

Its standard for all cruise lines that they can adjust the ports offered and even not stop at any at all. Only the port fees (if the new port is lower fees) will be refunded.
