Virgin Voyages has confirmed that Valiant Lady’s arrival in New York will be delayed on September 27, 2026, following a nor’easter off the Northeast coast. The disruption affects both the ship’s current New England and Canada voyage and its upcoming Bermuda sailing.
Valiant Lady is now expected to arrive in New York at approximately 4 PM on Sunday, September 27. Disembarkation is expected to begin around 5 PM, while embarkation for the next voyage will not begin until 8 PM.
The weather disruption has also forced Virgin Voyages to shorten its upcoming Bermuda itinerary. The ship will now depart New York on Monday, September 28, and spend one day in Bermuda instead of staying overnight.
This is the second time this week that weather has disrupted Virgin Voyages’ operations. On September 25, the cruise line announced significant changes to Brilliant Lady’s Mexican Riviera itinerary following Hurricane Polo.
Two Valiant Lady Voyages Affected by New York Storm
The latest disruption affects two consecutive Valiant Lady voyages operating from New York.
- September 19, 2026: New England and Canada Cruise – The current voyage will arrive in New York later than scheduled, with disembarkation beginning no earlier than 5 PM on September 27.
- September 27, 2026: Bermuda Overnight Cruise – Embarkation has been delayed until Sunday evening, departure has moved to Monday and the overnight stay in Bermuda has been removed.
Virgin Voyages explained that the storm forced the Port of New York to close on September 26. Although the port is expected to reopen on Sunday morning, other ships must depart before Valiant Lady can dock.
The cruise line has also adjusted the ship’s course to avoid the worst of the weather.
Current Voyage: New York Disembarkation Delayed Until 5 PM
Sailors currently onboard Valiant Lady should prepare for a significantly later arrival in New York on Sunday, September 27.
The ship has been approved to dock at approximately 4 PM. However, Virgin Voyages expects customs and immigration clearance to take between 30 and 60 minutes.
Consequently, the earliest expected disembarkation time is approximately 5 PM.
Virgin Voyages has provided several important instructions for sailors finishing their voyage:
- Luggage: Sailors requiring luggage assistance should place their bags outside their cabins by 10 AM on Sunday, September 27, rather than the previous evening.
- Disembarkation slots: Sailors should use the Virgin Voyages App to select their preferred disembarkation time by 8 PM on Saturday, September 26.
- Meeting locations: Crew will deliver a letter to each cabin on Sunday morning confirming the assigned disembarkation meeting location.
- Onward travel: Sailors should contact their airlines or travel providers directly to discuss alternative arrangements where necessary.
Virgin Voyages has suggested that sailors requiring alternative flights consider departures after 8 PM on Sunday, where available.
Dining Available Throughout Sunday
Additional dining arrangements have been made for sailors spending an extended day onboard.
The Galley and The Pizza Place will remain open throughout the day. The Wake and Ariya will also offer brunch between 8 AM and 1 PM.
Airport Transfers and New York Shore Things
Airport transfers booked through the Virgin Voyages App will continue to operate. Their departure times will automatically adjust to reflect the ship’s delayed arrival.
Other Virgin Voyages Shore Things booked in New York will be cancelled. Refunds will be credited to sailors’ onboard accounts.
Virgin Voyages has confirmed that it will not provide compensation for the disruption to onward travel arrangements, as the delay is weather-related.
September 27 Bermuda Cruise Embarkation Delayed
The delayed arrival also affects sailors joining Valiant Lady’s five-night Bermuda Overnight Cruise, originally scheduled to depart New York on September 27.
Virgin Voyages has announced two embarkation windows to accommodate the revised schedule:
- Sunday, September 27: Embarkation between 8 PM and midnight.
- Monday, September 28: Additional embarkation between 7 AM and 10 AM.
Valiant Lady is now scheduled to depart New York at approximately noon on Monday, September 28.
Sailors can choose to embark on Monday morning if Sunday evening is inconvenient, including those experiencing weather-related travel disruption.

First Night Dining Arrangements Changed
Virgin Voyages has also announced changes to dining arrangements for the first evening of the Bermuda voyage.
Existing restaurant reservations for Sunday, September 27, have been cancelled. Sailors can disregard any reservations that continue to appear in the Virgin Voyages App.
A selection of onboard restaurants will operate with limited service, with dining available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Galley will provide expanded dining options and remain open from 8 PM until 1 AM to accommodate the later embarkation.
Bermuda Overnight Stay Removed From Revised Itinerary
The delayed departure from New York means Valiant Lady will no longer spend two days in Bermuda. Instead, the ship will make a single daytime visit to the island.
Virgin Voyages has confirmed that Valiant Lady will arrive in Bermuda at 9 AM and depart at 4 PM, giving sailors approximately seven hours in port.
The cruise line explained that shortening the visit was necessary to retain Bermuda on the itinerary following the delayed departure.

Any Shore Things booked for the original first day in Bermuda will be automatically cancelled. Virgin Voyages has confirmed that these will be refunded as refundable Sailor Loot after embarkation.
Shore Things booked for the original second day are unaffected and will proceed as planned.
Sailors who have independently arranged excursions or other activities for the cancelled port day should contact their tour operators directly to discuss their options.
Virgin Voyages Offers Sailor Loot and Future Voyage Credit
Virgin Voyages has announced compensation for sailors joining the affected September 27 Bermuda cruise.
Every sailor joining the voyage will receive:
- $200 in non-refundable Sailor Loot per person: Onboard credit to spend during the affected voyage.
- $200 in Future Voyage Credit per person: Credit towards a future Virgin Voyages sailing.
For a cabin with two sailors, this represents a total of $400 in non-refundable Sailor Loot and $400 in Future Voyage Credit.
The compensation applies to sailors continuing with the revised Bermuda voyage. Sailors finishing the current New England and Canada voyage will not receive compensation for their weather-related travel disruption.
Options for Sailors Unable to Travel to New York
Virgin Voyages has also outlined an alternative for sailors whose travel plans are affected by the weather conditions in New York.
Sailors who are unable to reach New York because of the disruption can contact Sailor Services to discuss moving to another sailing.
Virgin Voyages has confirmed that eligible sailors can receive Future Voyage Credit equivalent to the value of their current voyage to use towards another sailing.
