Virgin Voyages Offers Alternative Boarding Options Amid Heathrow Closure
Virgin Voyages is offering affected travelers an alternative boarding option due to Heathrow’s closure. Sailors can downline at select ports and should contact Sailor Services.

Virgin Voyages is stepping in to assist those affected by the ongoing closure of London’s Heathrow Airport, which has been severely disrupted due to a power outage caused by a fire in the area. With thousands of travelers facing flight cancellations and delays, the cruise line is making an exception to its usual boarding policies to help those impacted make their voyage.
“We understand that the unexpected Heathrow closure has caused major disruptions,” a Virgin Voyages spokesperson shared. “For those unable to reach Miami or San Juan in time for embarkation, we are offering an alternative way to join the voyage.”
Downlining Permitted
Sailors who are unable to make their scheduled departure have the option to “downline,” meaning they can board the ship at its next scheduled port of call. This practice, which typically requires special approval, is being allowed to provide greater flexibility during this travel disruption.

Contact Sailor Services
While the situation at Heathrow remains fluid, Virgin Voyages is committed to providing options for those affected. “We want to ensure that as many of our Sailors as possible can still enjoy their well-earned getaway,” the spokesperson added.
Sailors impacted by these travel disruptions should reach out as soon as possible to Sailor Services via phone to make arrangements.
