Virgin Voyages Trials Print-at-Home Luggage Tags

Virgin Voyages is trialling print-at-home luggage tags from April for select voyages departing Miami, Barcelona, and Athens to streamline embarkation and reduce wait times.

Virgin Voyages is introducing a new feature designed to make embarkation day even smoother. Starting in late April, a trial of Print-at-Home Luggage Tags will begin for voyages departing from Miami, Barcelona, and Athens.

This optional process allows sailors to download and print their luggage tags before arriving at the terminal, helping reduce wait times and improve the overall embarkation experience.

How Does it Work?

Sailors will receive an email 72 hours before their voyage. This email includes a PDF with their personalized luggage tags—ready to be downloaded and printed. The message is automatically sent once all Ready to Sail steps are completed in the Virgin Voyages app.

Sailors who’ve printed and attached their luggage tags should look for the “Pre-Tagged Luggage” sign upon arrival to drop off their bags.

What if I Forget to Print my Tags?

No problem. Luggage tags will still be available at the terminal. But printing them at home means one less stop on the way to boarding—and it may speed things up once you arrive.

Why is Virgin Voyages Making This Change?

The aim is to streamline embarkation and improve the efficiency of bag delivery. By having tags already attached, sailors can check in faster and avoid delays caused by manual tag writing at the terminal.

What if I Don’t Get The Email?

If you haven’t received your tags 72 hours before embarkation, be sure to check your spam or junk folder. If it’s still not there, there’s no need to worry—tags will be available at the terminal when you arrive. There’s no need to turn up early, just arrive at your selected time.

Available Ports & Dates

For now, this print-at-home option is only available on voyages departing from:

  • Miami
  • Barcelona
  • Athens

Launch Dates

Print-at-home luggage tags will be available starting with these voyages—and for all voyages moving forward in the core homeports listed:

  • Valiant Lady: April 16, 2025
  • Scarlet Lady: April 19, 2025
  • Resilient Lady: April 26, 2025

Virgin Voyages will monitor feedback from the trial to improve availability in the future.

Arrival Time Reminders

Virgin Voyages also recently updated its embarkation policies to improve flow at the terminal. In Miami the final embarkation time will be 5pm instead of 6pm. Sailors are encouraged to select their preferred Arrival Time within the app as part of the Ready to Sail steps unless you are a priority sailor.

Need longer than 72 hours. We are leaving home 5 days before we board, 2 of which we are in the air with the connections we have coming from Australia. Should be provided at least a week before embarkation if they want us to print out our own tags.

    1. Stacie says:

If you’re staying at a hotel, you should be able to print them.

  2. Glenda Stirling says:

I’m hoping they size them to the clear luggage tags. Have always used these and they’re brilliant. Stapling the tag on isn’t great.
They’ll need to iron out a few issues. Maybe a tag printer at the port for those who haven’t printed. There’ll be a few!

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Tags will still be available as usual 🙂

  3. Tracey L. Porreca says:

So many questions – Do you need to buy sticky labels? Or will they insert into existing bag tag holders? And are they commited to 72 hours? I fly from Alaska and have to give extra time for travel. I may not have access to a printer in that 72 hour window

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Most either suggest staples or folding. We don’t know yet the full process as no sailing has happened yet. But this is entirely optional if it’s an issue you can tag at the port easily.

  4. Joseph Camac says:

If you print your luggage tags and take to pre-tagged area would you still be dealing with porters who don’t work for Virgin Voyages and need to be prepared to offer a gratuity

    1. Rob Sammons says:

      Good question, presumably so yes

  5. Amy Schaffner says:

If we print the tags at home, should we assume we need tag holders? If so, any idea if we should order the narrow style or the wide?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Until the first set of sailings happen we have no clue what they’ll look like, soon as we know we’ll try and update 🙂

  6. Mary Fowler says:

Should be two weeks prior to give time for those who have pre and post stays.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Hopefully they improve this as the trial continues!

  7. David Harris says:

Shame it’s only 72 hours prior, we’re travelling 8 days before so will have no facility to print them!

    1. Kristina says:

If you are staying in the US prior to embarkation, you can always have them printed at an office supply store like Staples or OfficeDepot. Also, UPS retail stores have a printing service and most libraries allow you to print. If you are staying in a hotel, some offer a business area with computers & printers.

      1. Rob Sammons says:

With luggage tags still available at the port really no need for that! 😀
