Virgin Voyages has adjusted the itinerary for its Eclipse in the Land of Fire & Ice voyage, sailing from Portsmouth on 5 August 2026, to guarantee full visibility of the total solar eclipse on 12 August.

The change comes after feedback from sailors who highlighted that the original itinerary would only deliver 98% totality. Unlike the Total Eclipse of the Med sailing, which promised complete coverage, this voyage would have missed out prompting Virgin Voyages to act.

Key Itinerary Changes

Two ports have been removed:

• Akureyri, Iceland
• Stornoway, Scotland

And replaced with:

• Liverpool, England
• Belfast, Northern Ireland

To accommodate these changes, Siglufjörður, Iceland now has new times: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (previously 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
