Cabin 8290A Location

View Deck 8 Plan

The ’A’ in the cabin number means it is on the port side of the ship (left of the ship if you’re looking straight forward). This can sometimes be important if you’re doing a repositioning voyage like a Transatlantic crossing as it will determine if you will have the sunshine or not.

About Cabin Category ‘Limited View Sea Terrace’

Located near the lower deck activities, the Limited View Sea Terrace provides a good balance of price and balcony space. While the cabin will typically have a partially obstructed view due to lifeboats or mechanical equipment, its proximity to lower deck activities makes it a practical option for guests who want easy access to onboard entertainment. This cabin has all the same modern features as a standard Sea Terrace.

We stayed in cabin 8290A on Scarlet Lady in May 2025. The cabin is very nice and has most of the normal features of a Limited View Sea Terrace. I was concerned that we might be over or too close to noisy venues like the Manor. However, this cabin is actually over the corridor outside The Groupie which is barely used. We therefore had no problems with noise on our voyage, other than very faintly hearing someone singing in the karaoke at one point. It did not disturb us.

Some points to note: this cabin has a heavy swing door onto the terrace, not a sliding door. It was hard to prop it open, and they ask you not to do so on sea days. We normally like to let some fresh air into the room during the day but we couldn’t really do so because of this like we would have done with a sliding door. The limited view is also OK but not great. When sitting in the hammock you’re essentially facing a winch, and the lifeboat fills up the view through the glass balcony, so you only have a view around the winch and above it. Standing up and looking over the balcony, the view is OK.

Also, the door of this cabin faces directly out into the lift atrium. We had no trouble with noise at all from this, but it means you might not want to be partially undressed when your cabinmate opens the door!

Location-wise, we found it very convenient to be so close to the lifts and just two short flights of stairs from the Sip Lounge and the other bar areas.

We had no problems with cleanliness or anything being worn in our room. The thermostat was initially stuck when we arrived but that was immediately fixed when we reported it.
