Virgin Voyages has rolled out a refreshed menu for Summer 2025 and beyond at Gunbae, its lively Korean BBQ-style restaurant. The updated menu is now available on all ships and features a mix of new traditional dishes, fresh vegetables, and bold flavors. While fan favorites remain, the new selections give sailors even more to enjoy around the grill.

Now Live Fleetwide

The new menu is part of the Eat & Drink Festival for 2025 but will remain in place once the festival is over.

The updated Gunbae menu is now available on:

  • Scarlet Lady
  • Valiant Lady
  • Resilient Lady
  • Brilliant Lady (from launch)

New Dishes Across the Menu

The refreshed Gunbae menu keeps its signature format but introduces a range of new and refreshed options across small bites, stews, BBQ mains, and dessert. Here’s what’s new:

Small Bites

  • Oi Muchim (VV)(GF) – A new cucumber and avocado salad with a touch of heat from pepper threads
  • Shrimp Kimbap Rolls – Crispy nori rice bites layered with shrimp and black garlic
  • Kimchi Jeon (V) – This kimchi pancake remains, but is now with a new presentation and lacks mungbean

What’s gone:

  • Miyeok Muchim (seaweed salad) no longer appears
  • The menu also no longer highlights the Hot Bar seafood skewer

No more Bibimbap! 😢 That was so yummy and reliable. V.V. Please bring it back!!

  2. meg says:

I’m not too happy with these changes. I feel like the bbq food is the boring part of the Gunbae offerings, although the bulgogi may be an improvement if decently marinated. I preferred filling up on bibimbap and japchae. I’m struggling to find the rice or noodles in the “rice/noodles/stew” section, other than that jjim is often served with rice?

At least they didn’t touch the crispy chicken and kimchi pancake.

  3. Joe M says:

I’m very interested in many of these dishes, but I don’t really like to do BBQ. Does Gunbae have seating that is not around a grill?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

They do not, the grill is not put into use until after appetizers are served, so you could eat and then leave before the grill portion.

  4. KIRK J bradley says:

We’ve had so many ‘bad’ dinner mates over nearly 70 Virgin sailing days that I wish they would offer a solo couple table option. Even though we LOVE Korean food, we no longer pick Gunbae as a dinner option.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

I’ve had some success before pre-planning a dinner with likeminded people on the Facebook groups

  5. Jen Moon says:

The Bugak still appears on the new menu you have linked

      So it does thank you!
