What to Expect

Retail Rumble is a comedic, tongue-in-cheek homage to classic television game shows such as Supermarket Sweep and The Price Is Right. The Hostess anchors the show with a deliberately retro 1990s game show persona—equal parts playful and dry—while two assistants from the Happenings Cast help manage gameplay and select on-stage participants.

Volunteers are chosen from the audience in a simple way: the assistants toss T-shirts into the crowd, and those who catch one are invited on stage to play. Participants keep the T-shirt as a takeaway.

Game Structure

  • Teams: The room is split into two sides, each represented as a team who will participate in the mini-games.

  • Mini-game Participation: Individual mini-games are played by volunteers chosen via T-shirt toss, if you would prefer not to join in, simply do not catch the t-shirt.

  • Examples of Mini-Games:

    • Volunteers are given a small shopping cart and tasked with gathering items to reach a specified total value – “supermarket sweep” style.

    • Volunteers are asked to guess the identity of mystery hidden items when given a description by the host.
    • Volunteers are asked to remember and recount a series of items that appear on an on-screen conveyor belt.
  • Scoring: Each side are awarded ‘dollars’ for each point won in the mini-games.

On-Board Shop Tie-Ins

The show is “sponsored” by the High Street onboard shops. Between games, advertisements for featured items appear on the venue’s screens. In keeping with the show’s tone, these segments are intentionally cheesy and frequently lampooned by the Hostess for comedic effect.

Sounds like fun! Is it a daytime, sea day event? I’ll look for it on my next voyage.

It is sea daytime afternoons, we had it at around 2.30pm and another sea day about 4pm.

Such a fun show though, Abi plays the role fantastically
