UpCycle Club is a hands-on creative workshop where reclaimed materials are transformed into art, accessories, and keepsakes. This session encourages sailors to give rescued items a new life through creativity, texture, and personal style, reflecting Virgin Voyages’ commitment to sustainability.
Event Details
This event is included in the voyage fare and does not require an additional payment. It is hosted as a bookable experience onboard. The UpCycle Club workshop is designed in partnership with Virgin Voyages, Georgie Hastie Creative, and Elliot David Hawker at Submerge, focusing on sustainability through creative reuse. Materials used include retired costumes, cast uniforms, pieces of tarp from Live Life Colorfully, corks from sail away parties, and other production offcuts.
What to Expect
Sailors participate in a private art session led by The Artist from The Happenings Cast, where they work directly with salvaged materials that once had a life onboard. Sailors choose from various reclaimed fabrics and materials to create new, functional keepsakes such as bag tags, pouches, patches, bookmarks, charms, or small textile accessories. The workshop combines relaxed crafting with light storytelling on sustainability and Virgin Voyages’ waste reduction efforts.
