Scarlet Lady Completes First-Ever Iceland Visit
Scarlet Lady visits Iceland for the first time, calling at Akureyri, Ísafjörður, and Reykjavik on her England to Iceland & Norway itinerary.
Virgin Voyages has marked a new milestone with Scarlet Lady’s first-ever calls on Iceland, part of her England to Iceland & Norway itinerary. The visit brought the ship to three Icelandic ports, giving travelers the chance to experience the country’s landscapes, culture, and unique charm.
Exploring Iceland’s Highlights
The journey began on August 3 with a call in Akureyri, the largest town in northern Iceland. Nestled at the end of the Eyjafjörður fjord, Akureyri offers access to the famous Goðafoss waterfall and other natural wonders, along with a vibrant town center known for its botanical gardens and waterfront views.
On August 4, Scarlet Lady sailed into Ísafjörður, a small but scenic town in the Westfjords. Known for its fishing heritage, narrow streets, and dramatic mountain backdrop, the port is a gateway to some of Iceland’s most untouched wilderness.
The Iceland visit concluded with an overnight stay in Reykjavik, arriving today August 5. The extended time in the capital gave travelers the opportunity to explore its colorful streets, museums, geothermal pools, and nearby Golden Circle attractions.

Expanding into the Nordics
“Scarlet Lady was the ship that started it all, and she’s still setting the pace,” said Nirmal Saverimuttu, Virgin Voyages CEO. “Her arrival in Iceland reflects growing global demand for our unapologetic approach to ocean-going vacations.”
This Nordic debut is part of Virgin Voyages’ broader expansion into new destinations that offer immersive travel experiences. While Scarlet Lady has opened the door to Iceland, the brand will return in 2026 when Valiant Lady visits the country as part of her summer sailings.
