Virgin Voyages has added a new layer of convenience for guests with the introduction of Ship Eats ordering via the in-room tablet. As part of the ongoing rollout of the 2.0 app experience, this new feature allows guests to order food and drinks to their cabin without needing to use a mobile phone.

This is a welcome change for those who prefer to unplug during their voyage or don’t have the app installed, now, everything you need to place a room service order is just a few taps away on your cabin’s tablet.

How It Works

The interface on the tablet closely mirrors what you’d see in the Virgin Voyages app. You can:

  • Select your cabin number (helpful if ordering from a shared tablet)
  • Choose from a range of food and drink options, just like on the app
  • Review your order history, so you can easily re-order favorites

The experience is clean, responsive, and makes it easy to order breakfast, snacks, or late-night bites without leaving your bed.

Room Service Rules Still Apply

The same conditions as regular ShipEats room service apply when ordering via the tablet:

  • A delivery fee will be added to most orders unless you order $10 worth of drinks
  • Certain menu items remain complimentary, while others have an additional charge
  • Orders typically arrive within 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the time of day

Did you receive notifications in the app during delivery?

Sounds like the Android version won’t be available until during/after Brilliant Lady’s MerMaiden which is unfortunate, but oh well. The old one works well enough.
I’m very glad to see ordering through the tablet now. That never made any sense to me.
What do you mean by “shared tablet”? Do some cabins share tablets with other cabins?!?

    1. Rob Sammons says:

As in the cabins shared tablet 🙂

I think I figured it out, and it will no doubt make more sense once we can see the update ourselves. I was initially confused by the line “Select your cabin number (helpful if ordering from a shared tablet)”. The word “shared” sounded like perhaps multiple cabin numbers could be associated with a single tablet if you have to make sure to select your particular cabin.

All cabins have a tablet for you to use
