Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady October 10th 2026 Cruise Rerouted

Virgin Voyages has rerouted Brilliant Lady’s October 10, 2026 sailing due to tropical weather, offering sailors up to Sailor Loot and Future Voyage Credit.

Virgin Voyages has announced another significant itinerary change for Brilliant Lady, with the October 10, 2026 Mexican Riviera sailing from Los Angeles now heading along the California coast instead.

The seven-night voyage will visit Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada rather than its originally planned Mexican Riviera destinations.

The decision follows continued weather concerns involving Hurricane Rachel and Tropical Storm Simon. Virgin Voyages says it has been monitoring both systems and has secured an alternative itinerary to keep sailors and crew safe.

Unlike the October 3 sailing, which only required one port change, the October 10 voyage has been completely rerouted.

Virgin Voyages has also confirmed compensation for affected sailors, including Sailor Loot to spend onboard and Future Voyage Credit toward another sailing.

Brilliant Lady’s Updated October 10 Itinerary

Brilliant Lady will still depart Los Angeles on Saturday, October 10, and return on October 17. However, the ship will now operate a West Coast itinerary with three port calls.

  • Saturday, October 10: Depart Los Angeles at 5 PM
  • Sunday, October 11: At sea
  • Monday, October 12: Santa Barbara, California, 8 AM to 6 PM
  • Tuesday, October 13: San Diego, California, 9 AM to 7 PM
  • Wednesday, October 14: Ensenada, Mexico, 8 AM to 5 PM
  • Thursday, October 15: At sea
  • Friday, October 16: At sea
  • Saturday, October 17: Arrive in Los Angeles at 6:30 AM

The revised schedule maintains three port days and three sea days. However, sailors will now spend most of their time along the California coast rather than visiting the Mexican Riviera.

Why Has Virgin Voyages Changed the Itinerary?

Virgin Voyages says the decision follows its assessment of the latest forecasts for Hurricane Rachel and Tropical Storm Simon.

Although the cruise line has been monitoring both weather systems, it has decided that changing the route is the safest option.

In a message to travel advisors, Virgin Voyages Chief Operating Officer Michelle Bentubo acknowledged the scale of the disruption and the timing of the announcement.

“We know this isn’t the itinerary your Sailors originally planned, and trust us, we recognize it’s a significant change.”

The cruise line explained that it wanted to confirm a safe alternative itinerary before notifying affected sailors.

Sailors Advised to Pack Warmer Clothing

Virgin Voyages has also issued a packing recommendation because the revised itinerary will bring different weather conditions. Temperatures along the California coast are expected to be cooler than those in the originally planned Mexican destinations.

The cruise line recommends bringing warmer layers and a light jacket, particularly for mornings, evenings and time spent at sea.

Sailors who packed primarily for warm Mexican Riviera weather may want to review their luggage before heading to Los Angeles.

Virgin Voyages Offering Sailor Loot and Future Voyage Credit

Because of the significant itinerary change, Virgin Voyages has confirmed compensation for everyone booked on the October 10 sailing.

The amount depends on the cabin category booked.

MegaRockStar and RockStar Sailors

  • $200 per person in non-refundable Sailor Loot to spend onboard.
  • $300 per person in Future Voyage Credit toward a future sailing.

All Other Sailors

  • $100 per person in non-refundable Sailor Loot to spend onboard.
  • $200 per person in Future Voyage Credit toward a future sailing.

For two sailors sharing a standard cabin, this means a combined $200 in Sailor Loot and $400 in Future Voyage Credit.

Meanwhile, two sailors staying in a RockStar or MegaRockStar suite will receive a combined $400 in Sailor Loot and $600 in Future Voyage Credit.

The Sailor Loot is non-refundable, so any unused amount will not be returned as cash. Virgin Voyages has not yet provided further details about the redemption conditions for the Future Voyage Credit.

What Happens to Booked Shore Things?

Sailors who booked Virgin Voyages Shore Things for destinations removed from the itinerary will automatically receive a full refund. Refunds will be returned to the original form of payment, and sailors do not need to request them separately.

Anyone who booked excursions independently should contact their tour operator directly to discuss cancellation or refund options.

Virgin Voyages says new Shore Things for Santa Barbara, San Diego and Ensenada will be available to book through the Virgin Voyages App soon.

Another Weather Disruption for Brilliant Lady

The October 10 itinerary change follows several weeks of weather-related disruption for Virgin Voyages.

Brilliant Lady’s September 26 sailing was significantly rerouted because of Hurricane Polo. Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta were replaced by San Francisco, San Diego, Catalina Island and Ensenada.

The following week’s October 3 sailing was also affected by Hurricane Rachel. However, only Cabo San Lucas was replaced by Ensenada, with Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta remaining on the itinerary.

Virgin Voyages also experienced disruption on the East Coast, with Valiant Lady’s New York operations delayed on September 27 because of weather conditions.

The latest change means Brilliant Lady has now experienced weather-related itinerary adjustments on three consecutive sailings. Unfortunately, itinerary changes are a reality of hurricane season and something all cruise lines must navigate to keep passengers and crew safe.
