Virgin Voyages 8 Legs Run Club (8LRC) Starts On Board
The newly launched 8 Legs Run Club on Resilient Lady and Scarlet Lady offers Sailors inclusive running sessions, leaderboard tracking, and guided runs on Deck 17’s Runway track.
Virgin Voyages has introduced the 8 Legs Run Club (8LRC) on Resilient Lady and Scarlet Lady, offering a fun and active way for sailors to rack up steps and compete in runs or walks aboard the ships. While it’s not yet confirmed if the club has launched on Valiant Lady, her shorter itineraries may pose challenges.
The program was originally announced in July last year and has now become a reality for sailors looking to stay active while at sea.
What is the 8 Legs Run Club?
The 8 Legs Run Club is spearheaded by Katrina the Balancer from Resilient Lady’s 4th Cast and Abbie the Balancer from Scarlet Lady’s 10th Cast. The club meets on Deck 17’s Runway track, where Sailors of all fitness levels can join in for a walk or run. Whether you’re an early riser chasing a sunrise, a seasoned runner logging your daily 10k, or just someone looking for a brisk lap to clear your mind, 8LRC is designed to accommodate everyone.
The program is a unique way to stay active, meet like-minded individuals, and enjoy the unbeatable views and fresh sea breeze that come with running outdoors on the ship’s track.
How to Join the 8 Legs Run Club
To participate, simply check your daily schedule and look for the “Run Club” event. Sailors meet at The Perch, the starting point for all runs, where the Balancer from the Happenings Cast will guide the session. The Balancer tracks each participant’s mileage and updates the leaderboard throughout the voyage.
The 8LRC typically holds sessions on sea days to ensure everyone has the time to join and complete their laps. Whether you’re aiming to beat your personal best or just taking a leisurely stroll, the club offers a supportive and encouraging environment.
Runway Rules
When using the Runway track, there are a few guidelines to follow:
- Run on the left (inside lane).
- Walk on the right (outside lane).
- Six laps = one mile.
Be sure to let the Balancer know your mileage after each session so they can track your stats for the voyage.
