Valiant Lady Dry Dock: On The Rocks and Social Space Changes

Valiant Lady’s dry dock will refresh On The Rocks, expand live music seating, and update nearby spaces including High Street.

On The Rocks, the main bar on Deck 6, is set to receive one of the more noticeable social space updates during Valiant Lady’s upcoming dry dock in May 2026, with plans to improve seating and open up the layout of the venue.

Known as one of the ship’s most popular spots for live music and evening drinks, the venue should benefit from a more open design when Valiant Lady returns to service.

This is part of our ongoing countdown to Valiant Lady’s dry dock, where we are taking a closer look at the updates expected across the ship. All projects discussed are subject to change.

More Space for Live Music

The most significant change shared so far is the planned removal of the curved wall to the right of the band stand. This is expected to open up the venue and create a larger seating area for guests watching performances.

Live music remains one of the biggest draws at On The Rocks, so additional seating and clearer sightlines could make a noticeable difference during busier evenings while also opening the space for more daytime uses.

A More Open Layout

Rather than a full redesign, the planned work appears focused on improving how the existing space functions. Opening up the area beside the stage should help the venue feel less enclosed while making movement through the space easier when crowds gather for entertainment.

This could also create room for additional seating while refreshing some of the existing furniture. For sailors, this should mean a venue that feels easier to use whether visiting for a drink, live music, or a quieter daytime seat.

Part of Wider Social Space Updates

The changes at On The Rocks sit alongside other updates planned for the surrounding central social areas of the ship.

Earlier details revealed refreshed Roundabout spaces, while nearby retail and venue areas are also expected to see changes during the dry dock period.

Together, these updates suggest Virgin Voyages is refining some of the busiest public areas onboard rather than introducing entirely new spaces.

High Street Changes

Dry dock plans also point to updates around High Street, where selected retail concepts are expected to change.

This includes adjustments to VV branded retail and moving Squid Ink to align with the layout already seen on Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady, alongside lighter refreshes to nearby shop spaces.

More Dry Dock Changes Still to Come

This latest update follows earlier confirmed dry dock changes including the Grounds Club Too upgrade, behind the scenes maintenance projects, and Athletic Club and open deck changes.
