Virgin Voyages Group Rates & Cruises

Virgin Voyages offers a Groups program designed for travelers sailing together on the same voyage. Whether you’re planning a birthday, reunion, bachelor or bachelorette trip, or just traveling with friends, booking as a group can unlock additional perks and make coordination easier.

Instead of managing separate bookings, groups can be linked together under one setup, with shared benefits and support from Virgin Voyages and your First Mate. Virgin Voyages updated its Groups program in June 2026, bringing together elements of previous group structures into one simplified system. This guide explains how Virgin Voyages groups work, what benefits are included, how to qualify, and what to know before planning your trip.

What Counts As A Group

A Virgin Voyages group is defined as a minimum of 8 cabins on the same sailing. Once you reach this threshold, the booking can be converted into a group and unlock additional benefits. You can also form a group after making initial bookings, as long as you reach the required number of cabins.

Groups can include friends, family, or any mix of travelers sailing together, all cabins must be on the same voyage.

  • Minimum of 8 cabins on the same sailing
  • Small Groups: 8 to 16 cabins
  • Large Groups: 17 to 75 cabins
  • New bookings and existing bookings may be able to form a group
  • Groups above 75 cabins are handled separately

Virgin Voyages Group Benefits

When booked under this program, groups can unlock a number of additional perks. These benefits depend on timing, voyage length, and availability.

Group Savings

Some sailings may include additional group savings, typically ranging between 5% and 15% off voyage fares depending on the sailing and promotion available at the time of booking.

Discount Exclusions

New Groups are typically created using a minimum combination of The Sea Terrace and Central Sea Terrace cabins. Existing bookings may still be added into a Group regardless of cabin type, although pricing and perks remain unchanged.

Bar Tab

Groups also receive a Bar Tab per cabin based on the length of the voyage:

  • 5 nights or less: $50 per cabin
  • 6 to 9 night sailings: $100 per cabin
  • 10 nights or longer: $200 per cabin

This Bar Tab can be used across the ship for drinks during the voyage.

Bar Tab Exclusions

Group Bar Tab applies to held The Sea Terrace and Central Sea Terrace bookings in the Group. Existing bookings added into a Group keep their original pricing, perks, and onboard credit and do not receive Group Bar Tab or Group savings.

Group Dining

Groups now receive Group Dining Concierge support, helping coordinate dining reservations based on the length of the voyage.

  • 5 nights or less: 1 coordinated dinner reservation
  • 6 to 9 nights: Up to 2 dinner reservations
  • 10 nights or longer: Up to 3 dinner reservations

Dining remains subject to availability and larger groups may still be staggered across venues or times.

Price Protection And Planning Flexibility

Groups can hold cabins while organizing, helping lock in pricing and promotions while confirming who is joining. Once cabins are named, the standard deposit applies.

  • Small Groups have a 120 day recall window
  • Large Groups have a 150 day recall window
  • Cabins may be held without names outside the recall window
  • No deposit is required to hold eligible Group space
  • Pricing and promotions are protected at the time the Group is created

How Group Bookings Work

Virgin Voyages uses something called a Group Shell to hold cabins while you organize your trip. This allows you to secure space without needing full details immediately.

  • Hold a specific number of cabins without names outside the recall window
  • No deposit required to secure eligible Group space
  • Deposits are required once names are added
  • Unnamed cabins are released at recall date if requirements are not met

Groups can also be created closer to sailing, but inside the recall period full payment is usually required straight away and availability may be limited.

Virgin Voyages may also require groups to maintain booking activity over time to keep held space active.

If your group drops below 8 cabins at any point, the group benefits are removed and bookings revert to standard individual terms.

Types Of Groups

Groups can be created for almost any occasion.

  • Birthdays and milestone celebrations
  • Bachelor or bachelorette trips
  • Family reunions
  • Friends traveling together

Important Group Rules To Know

There are a few key things to be aware of when planning a group. Group pricing and benefits may vary by voyage, cabin type, and promotional availability. My Next Virgin Voyage placeholders are now combinable with the Groups program, although individual promotions may still carry their own terms and conditions.

Existing bookings can also be added into a Group and still count toward Group size, while keeping their original pricing and perks.

Groups created before June 3, 2026 remain protected under their original program rules and benefits.

Got A Smaller Group?

If you have fewer than 8 cabins, you will not qualify for the official Groups program, but you can still travel together and coordinate your bookings.

At VV Insider, we regularly help smaller groups plan their trips and keep everything aligned.

Examples of how we have helped groups before:

  • Link bookings together
  • Help choose cabins close to each other
  • Coordinate dining and onboard plans
  • Make sure everything is set up correctly

This works well for smaller celebrations or friend groups who want to travel together without needing full group status.
