Event Info

The Grog Walk: Bachelor/Bachelorette Edition is a new version of Virgin Voyages’ signature Grog Walk, reworked around the theme of a bachelor or bachelorette party. The event follows the same broad idea as the original bar crawl, moving sailors through several bars around the ship, but adds themed games, group challenges, and party-style prompts designed to get participants talking early in the voyage.

Despite the name, the event is not limited to sailors celebrating an actual bachelor or bachelorette occasion. Both versions are open to all sailors, regardless of gender identity or relationship status, and the emphasis is on social interaction rather than a formal celebration. The Bachelor and Bachelorette editions follow similar principles, with the theme used as a framing device for the games, dares, and group activities.

The event becomes increasingly high-energy as the night progresses, but the opening section is handled carefully by The Happenings Cast. Hosts take time to set expectations, introduce the format, and ease the group into the experience before the louder challenges begin. This helps make the event feel more approachable, particularly for sailors attending alone or those who may be unsure about joining a more participatory activity.

Event Details & Pricing

The Grog Walk: Bachelor/Bachelorette Edition is a paid event with a participation fee of $50. The price includes cocktails at multiple bars throughout the ship, with each stop providing a drink and a new activity or challenge. These included cocktails play an important role in the structure of the evening, helping the group relax into the format and creating a shared rhythm as sailors move from venue to venue.

The event is typically scheduled on the first night of the voyage and leads into the PJ Party, giving participants time to change into PJs for the following festivities. This makes it one of the more direct ways to meet other sailors at the beginning of a sailing, especially for guests who want a hosted social event rather than trying to make introductions independently.

Capacity is limited, usually accommodating around 40 to 50 sailors per crawl. Availability, timing, and exact format may vary, so sailors should check the app once onboard.

What to Expect

The evening begins with introductions from The Happenings Cast, who explain how the crawl will work and help establish a comfortable group atmosphere. Early activities are generally designed to break the ice, allowing sailors to meet one another before the event moves into more energetic challenges and party-style games.

As the crawl continues, participants move between bars, receive included cocktails, and take part in themed prompts, dares, and group competitions. The tone becomes louder and more playful as the night develops, but participation is managed in a way that avoids making the event feel exclusionary. The Happenings Cast keep the group moving, encourage involvement, and help make the experience feel accessible even for sailors who are less naturally outgoing.

The events include chants, scavenger-style activities, drinking games, and a final group challenge where participants can compete for titles such as “Bachelor” or “Bride-To-Be.” It is designed to be social and lively, but sailors are not required to take part in every moment if they prefer to stay slightly more low-key.

How to Book

Booking for The Grog Walk: Bachelor/Bachelorette Edition is available through the Virgin Voyages app after boarding. Spaces are limited, and the event can sell out quickly, particularly on shorter sailings or voyages where many sailors are looking for first-night social activities. Early booking is recommended once the event appears in the app.

Overview

This new take on Grog Walk was created and produced by Georgie Hastie Creative. The format is best suited to sailors who are comfortable with a lively, participatory evening, but it is more welcoming than the theme might initially suggest. The Happenings Cast play a significant role in setting the tone, helping participants feel included before the event becomes more chaotic and high-energy.
