Seriously Ship Facts: The Numbers Behind Virgin Voyages Ships
A collection of fun ship facts highlighting the surprising numbers behind food, drinks, entertainment, and daily operations onboard.
Cruise ships are easy to enjoy without thinking about the scale behind them. But when you look at the numbers, everyday life onboard Virgin Voyages ships starts to feel very different.
Here are some of the figures that quietly sit behind each sailing.
Restocking A Ship
Every Virgin Voyages ship is restocked on a regular cycle, roughly every two weeks.
Each resupply includes around 450 pallets of supplies, broken down into:
- 250 pallets of food
- 120 pallets of beverages
- 80 pallets of miscellaneous essentials
That is everything needed to reset the ship for multiple voyages at a time.

Food At Sea
Dining numbers add up quickly onboard.
On an average voyage, kitchens prepare roughly:
- 2,000 pounds of shrimp
- 11,000 pounds of beef
All food is prepared onboard and cooked to order, rather than produced in advance.

Entertainment Across The Fleet
Across 2025, Virgin Voyages delivered 14 immersive themes across the fleet, influencing more than 30 voyages.
Rather than running a fixed entertainment lineup, programming rotated throughout the year and varied by sailing.
That included appearances and collaborations with:
Virgin Voyages also hosted specialty sailings, including a dedicated True Crime voyage built around popular podcasts, live discussions, and long-form storytelling.
These themes and events were layered into existing sailings rather than replacing standard entertainment, meaning more variety across the year with even more planned this year!

Drinks By The Bottle
On an average voyage, guests consume around 200 bottles of champagne. That number does not include cava, prosecco, or other sparkling wines.
Virgin Voyages offers Shake for Champagne, which lets guests order a bottle directly to their location onboard.

Sailaway In Numbers
Virgin Voyages hosts a free Sail Away celebration with complimentary bubbles on every voyage! Each Sail Away involves pouring more than 1,700 glasses on a single voyage. With four ships sailing each week, that works out to more than 6,800 glasses poured weekly across the fleet.

Moving Between Decks
Virgin Voyages ships span up to 17 decks, with elevator banks positioned forward, midship, and aft.
This layout helps spread movement throughout the ship during peak times like mornings, dinner hours, and evening shows.

Just The Facts
Most of these numbers are not visible during a voyage, but they reflect the scale of what runs in the background while guests move around the ship, eat, drink, and attend events, and while figures vary slightly from sailing to sailing, the underlying operations remain largely consistent.
