Virgin Voyages has shared new detail on of its Olas de Fuego sailing with Nicky Jam, following the line’s first artist led voyage focused entirely on Latin music and culture.

The eight night sailing took place aboard Valiant Lady from 5th December, operating round trip from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with port calls in Curaçao, Aruba, Dominica, Antigua, and St. Maarten.

Latin Music Took Over the Ship

According to Virgin Voyages, music programming ran across the ship throughout the voyage, rather than being limited to a single headline show or venue.

Live performances, DJ sets, and dance focused events were scheduled alongside smaller pop up moments, creating what the line described as one of its most active themed sailings to date.

Lineup Curated by Nicky Jam

Virgin Voyages confirmed that six artists selected by Nicky Jam joined the sailing, including DJ Bash, Carmen DeLeon, Mati Gómez, Vlair, RoyalLive, and Shadia Maraby.

The company said the sailing attracted travelers from across Latin America and Spain, with the onboard atmosphere shaped by Latin music throughout the itinerary.

Nicky Jam on the Experience

“Olas de Fuego was a reflection of who we are, our culture, our rhythm and the love we share through music,” said Nicky Jam.

“Seeing so many Latinos and people from around the world vibing together on the ship made this experience unforgettable.”

He also pointed to the cruise setting as offering more time with fans than a typical concert environment, allowing for informal interactions across the ship.

What Comes Next

Virgin Voyages framed the sailing as part of a broader effort to develop more culturally specific voyages tied to music and live entertainment.

“The vibe onboard was electric, unlike anything we’ve done before. Every venue, every deck and every port stop felt alive,” said Jamie Douglas, Director of Fleet Experience at Virgin Voyages.

The line has already announced its next major music collaboration for 2026, confirming Nile Rodgers and CHIC as the headliners for the Red Hot Sailing Club Voyage.

Really not feeling Nile. Was more interested in a faster more modern beat hope the other talent is more my speed.

The Dec. 5–13 sailing for the Nicky Jam Olas y Fuego presentation was an amazing experience—truly one for the books. I’ve been on fully sold-out cruises and others sailing at about 75% capacity, and honestly, this one was perfect. Not being sold out actually made everything feel more relaxed and enjoyable.
All of the artists delivered great performances, the activities were on point, and the staff—well, what can I say? They’re Virgin employees, the best of the best. Consistently friendly, professional, and attentive.
As always, Gunbae on the first night was a must. Made friends there who ended up being our people for the entire trip. By the third day, it felt like we had known each other for years.
The Galley never disappoints, the food was solid throughout, and to top it all off, the weather was perfect. An unforgettable sailing from start to finish. Would absolutely do it again.

I was on this sailing and had booked it before the Nicky Jam theme was attached. The ship was way below capacity (around 2000 sailors). A large percentage of the people there didn’t know anything about Nicky Jam. The vibe was way off from a normal sailing. The normal entertainment events were not well attended. I’d call this sailing a failure as it failed to attract a full ship. The sailing likely would have sold out if it didn’t have the specialty music theme attached. So while Virgin may try to spin it as a success it was anything but that. I’m sure the people that were there specifically for Nicky Jam had a great time but this sailing just was very off compared to the previous sailing (I had done a back to back).
