Virgin Voyages has confirmed a major update to its My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) program, effective today, October 27, 2026. The cruise line has reversed its planned reduction to the booking window and removed the requirement to sail within two years.

The changes apply to both new and existing MNVV placeholders, giving Sailors more flexibility when planning future cruises.

My Next Virgin Voyage allows Sailors to secure a discount and Sailor Loot for a future sailing. You can find the current benefits in our complete MNVV guide.

Virgin Voyages Reverses One-Year MNVV Deadline

In August 2026, Virgin Voyages announced plans to reduce the MNVV booking window from two years to one year.

However, the cruise line has now reversed that decision. Sailors will continue to have 24 months from the date of purchase to convert their placeholder into a confirmed booking.

The previously announced one-year deadline will no longer be introduced.

MNVV Placeholders Can Now Be Used on Any Future Sailing

Starting October 27, 2026, Sailors can use their MNVV on any eligible voyage available for sale, regardless of when it departs.

Previously, Sailors had to book and sail within the applicable two-year period. Now, they only need to confirm their booking within two years.

For example, a Sailor purchasing an MNVV on January 1, 2027, would have until December 31, 2028, to book. However, the voyage itself could depart in 2029, 2030 or later, provided it is available for sale.

Importantly, this change also applies to existing MNVV placeholders. Their original booking deadlines remain unchanged, but the sailing date restriction is removed.

MNVV Name Change Restrictions Remain

One change announced in August 2026 has not been reversed. Since August 6, 2026, newly purchased MNVV placeholders have been restricted to the original Sailor. Name changes cannot be made while the offer remains a placeholder.

Placeholders purchased before August 6 may still follow their original terms, including any permitted name changes.

Once converted into a confirmed voyage, the standard rules of the selected fare apply.

What Does This Mean for Sailors?

The update gives Sailors considerably more freedom to plan future cruises, particularly when waiting for new itineraries to be released. It also means existing MNVV holders can benefit from the extended sailing flexibility without purchasing another placeholder.

The current MNVV discounts, Sailor Loot benefits and eligible cabin requirements remain unchanged. However, Sailors must still convert their placeholder within two years of purchase. The new policy removes the sailing deadline, not the booking deadline.
