Event Details & Pricing

Dip It Real Good is hosted by The Foodie on Virgin Voyages. Sailors will enjoy a guided tasting and mini-demo experience for a nominal fee of $35 per person. Bar Tab can’t be used for this event, but Sailor Loot may be applied if available. The duration is around 1 hour.

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of Saint Louis sparkling wine before taking your seat in The Test Kitchen.

Note: Pricing and inclusions may vary by sailing and are subject to change.

What to Expect

Sailors are asked to wash their hands before the tasting gets underway. You’ll start with four freshly prepared dips, kept secret at first, and a generous spread of snacks to test them with — think chicken wings, roasted cauliflower, grilled shrimp, nachos, and radish slices.

Your Foodie host will introduce each dip one by one, inviting you to smell, taste, and theorise about the flavour combinations and textures. You’ll also guess which onboard restaurant or eatery the dip is served in and what it traditionally pairs with. Only after the group has had a go will the host reveal each dip’s identity. A fifth dip is brought later in the session as with is a dip that should be served warm.

With the reveals come the ingredients and techniques, along with a few recipe explanations, you might even handle a selection of dried peppers and other ingredients that feature in the recipes to understand heat, aroma, and depth first-hand.

To finish on a crowd-pleaser, every Sailor gets a serving of Pink Agave’s guacamole with fresh handmade nachos, while the Foodie talks through how the ship makes its much-loved guac from scratch.

Highlights Include:

  • A welcome glass of Saint Louis sparkling wine

Ooooh, this is right up my alley. I hope they have it on my Alaska cruise next year!
