Event Details & Pricing

Let’s Mushroom Around is hosted by a Test Kitchen chef together with The Foodie on Virgin Voyages. Sailors will enjoy a guided cooking and plating session for $35 per person. Bar Tab cannot be used for this event, but Sailor Loot may be applied if available. Expect the session to last around 1 hour.

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of Saint Louis sparkling wine before taking your station.

What to Expect

This is a true hands-on experience, so you’ll be asked to wash your hands before the fun begins. The chef will kick things off by demystifying the mushroom custard — an iconic course from Menu A in The Test Kitchen. You’ll watch the base mixture come together on a portable stove as each ingredient and mushroom variety is introduced, discussed, and added to the pan. Techniques are explained step-by-step, and you’ll get up close with the specially crafted silicone moulds used to set the custard/gelatine mixture into its recognisable mushroom shape.

Next, you’ll be presented with an ungarnished mushroom custard and invited to recreate the finished plate. Follow the chef’s guide or go off-piste — use the tools and garnish selection provided to design an aesthetically pleasing composition worthy of the Test Kitchen pass.

The chef then pivots to a mushroom tartare, a nod to the original Razzle Dazzle menu (not featured on the current Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle or Rojo by Razzle Dazzle menus). You’ll mix, mould, and plate your tartare, finishing with your chosen garnishes much like the previous dish.

Finally, once you’ve snapped the perfect photo, you’re warmly encouraged to taste and enjoy your creations.
