Virgin Voyages Embraces AI with Google Cloud Partnership
Virgin Voyages partners with Google Cloud to deploy 50+ AI agents, enhancing marketing, operations, and sailor experiences through Gemini Enterprise.
Virgin Voyages has announced a new partnership with Google Cloud, launching more than 50 artificial intelligence (AI) agents across its business through the Gemini Enterprise platform. The move marks a major step in bringing advanced technology into everyday operations, designed to streamline work, boost creativity, and enhance both the sailor and crew experience.
Email Ellie Leads the Way
The first AI agent, known as “Email Ellie,” was built internally by Virgin Voyages’ creative team using Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise tools. The agent helps create personalized marketing campaigns that stay true to Virgin’s signature tone and style, while improving speed and consistency. Since launch, Ellie has helped reduce the team’s campaign copy time by around 40% and contributed to what the company described as a record-breaking month for sales in July.
“What excites me most about this partnership with Google Cloud is how it gives our teams back time to do what they do best—create joy, build connections, and bring our brand to life,” said Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages. “‘Email Ellie’ is just the beginning. It’s already helped deliver record-breaking sales, and she’s proof that AI agents scale our impact and amplify our human touches.”

AI at the Heart of the Brand
Built on Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise platform, the new system allows teams at Virgin Voyages to develop their own AI agents without needing technical backgrounds. These agents can assist with a variety of internal tasks, from marketing and guest communications to on-board operations and crew support. The partnership reflects Virgin Voyages’ growing focus on technology as a driver for better service and smarter workflows.
“Virgin Voyages proves that when you combine a powerful platform like Gemini Enterprise with clear direction from domain experts, any company can create AI agents that help them succeed and grow,” said Matt Renner, president of Global Revenue at Google Cloud.

Looking Ahead
The company plans to roll out more AI-powered tools in the coming months, aimed at improving the pre-voyage experience and helping crew spend more time on meaningful, guest-focused tasks while on board. While some in the travel industry have raised concerns about the pace of AI adoption, Virgin Voyages says its approach focuses on enhancing, not replacing, the human touch that defines its brand.
For sailors, this could mean more timely and personalized communications before they sail, smoother service during their voyage, and smarter ways for the brand to anticipate preferences and needs. For crew, it may mean less time spent on administrative work and more on creating memorable experiences at sea.
The collaboration with Google Cloud positions Virgin Voyages as one of the first cruise lines to fully integrate generative AI into both its marketing and operational systems.
