Today Virgin Voyages have released official press images of some of the new interiors of Scarlet Lady as they will appear post dry dock taking place from November 14 to November 28, 2024.

Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady, known for its bold design and unique offerings, is set to undergo a series of major upgrades during a scheduled dry dock from November 14 to 28. Following previous reports from ourselves on the expected changes. Virgin Voyages has now confirmed several of these updates with newly released images showcasing the extent of the planned refurbishments.

Since her debut in 2021, Scarlet Lady has established herself as a key player in Virgin’s growing cruise fleet. The ship, which earned a spot on Condé Nast Traveler’s 2024 Gold List, has been praised for its cruising experience.  However, after several years in service, the ship is set to receive a series of cosmetic and functional enhancements, aimed at meeting passenger demand and improving the overall onboard experience.

Video Overview

Suite Additions Confirmed

One of the most significant updates confirmed is the addition of 24 new “Seriously Suite” RockStar Quarters as previously reported on deck 11. This follows ongoing speculation about an expansion of Scarlet Lady’s popular RockStar suites, which have consistently seen high booking rates. These new Seriously Suites will offer Sailors 352-square-feet of space, including a European king bed, a Peek-a-Boo shower, an in-room record player, and the distinctive Yellow Leaf hammock, which has become a signature feature of Virgin Voyages’ luxury cabins.

Nicole Huang, Vice President of Fleet Experience at Virgin Voyages, said: “We’re answering in a big way by adding suites, so more people can live their best lives,” reflecting the brand’s focus on expanding the availability of premium accommodations.

Dining Changes and New Concepts

Razzle Dazzle

In line with earlier reports, Virgin Voyages has confirmed changes to several of Scarlet Lady’s dining options, most notably Razzle Dazzle. The restaurant, which has gained popularity for its vegetarian-friendly brunch and bold, eclectic interiors, will be introducing a new evening concept called “Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle.” The updated space will feature a Chinese-inspired menu and a shift from communal dining tables to more intimate, lounge-style seating.

Brunch will remain at Razzle Dazzle with fan favorites returning alongside new dishes inspired by the new evening concept. The updated brunch menu will take on more of a traditional American approach with subtle Chinese influences.

Grounds Club Too

Additionally, Ground Club Too, the ship’s coffee bar located in The Galley, will transform into a cocktail lounge by night. This shift in purpose has been designed to cater to passengers looking for a more relaxed and upscale evening setting, with the newly released images highlighting the space’s new seating arrangements and ambient lighting.

Upgrades to Deck Spaces and Wellness Areas

Aquatic Club

The first images also confirm the introduction of six new VIP cabanas on Scarlet Lady’s deck, as previously rumoured. These cabanas, located near the Aquatic Club, will offer passengers additional privacy and comfort with their white curtains and daybeds, and are available for both individual bookings and larger group reservations.

Redemption Spa

Meanwhile, the ship’s Redemption Spa will see the addition of a couples treatment room. This new space, aimed at enhancing the ship’s wellness offering, will be an addition to the already established Thermal Suite, which remains unchanged according to the latest reports.

Casino Expansion and Entertainment

There have been rumours regarding the expansion of the ship’s non-smoking casino, and Virgin Voyages has now confirmed that the space will expand to accommodate more slot machines and create new areas for high-stakes gaming. While other entertainment offerings such as the ship’s popular Scarlet Night and acrobatic performances are expected to remain the same, the casino expansion shows Virgin Voyages’s willingness to work towards diversifying the onboard activities available to guests.

New Mermaid

Scarlet Lady will soon feature a new mermaid on its bow, symbolizing strength and safe passage for Virgin Voyages. The iconic mermaid is also getting a stylish update—more modern, majestic, and distinctly Virgin Voyages.

Future Voyages and Itineraries

Once the dry dock work is completed, Scarlet Lady will embark on a 16-night transatlantic voyage from Rome to Miami on November 28th, after which she will begin a series of longer Caribbean cruises. These itineraries include stops at St. Croix, Costa Maya, Roatán, and Virgin Voyages’ exclusive Beach Club in the Bahamas, which has become a highlight for many passengers.

Rumored Changes Confirmed

While some of these changes had been anticipated based on our earlier rumor reports, the newly released images confirm that Virgin Voyages is making significant investments in the functionality for its flagship vessel. These upgrades come at a time when demand for unique and upscale cruising experiences is increasing, and Scarlet Lady’s improvements appear to be in direct response to sailor feedback collected over the last few seasons.

As the November dry dock approaches, further details on these changes are expected to be released, offering a more comprehensive view of how Scarlet Lady will evolve as she enters the next phase of her service. Stay subscribed to our newsletter for the latest on the Scarlet Lady dry dock.

  1. Cindy L Ramey says:

Looking forward to seeing the updates on our February voyage. RD is not one of our favorite restaurants, we actually now only use it for debarkation day breakfast, so it will be interesting to see what type of Chinese menu will be available in the evenings.

  2. John G. says:

Lucky Lotus? Seriously? It sounds like a slot machine game. Is that the best they could come up with?

    1. Donna Zeigfinger says:

It seems like they’re becoming less than less plant-based which is really too bad because that is the majority of my clients. I hope that is not the case.

  3. Philip Dobinson says:

Slightly concerned about the Aquatic Bar cabana installations – it’s hard to tell where exactly it’s located but I think it’s where the current Red Metal spaces are near the sun club cafe and the smoking area. The pool and sun lounge area is already busy –
I don’t think removing the free space from the red cage seats will help with crowding issues at the pools!

Be interesting to see how Razzle Dazzle now turns out with its Chinese inspired menus. It feels like they have struggled on what to do with this venue.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Yes pretty much exactly where those are, based on the concept art it seems there may be 3 on each side, one at sun club and one at smoking area (not great for passing smoke into the cabanas!)

      1. James Vickers says:

Will be a bit sad if that area of the ship becomes chargeable as it’s one of my favourite spaces on board!

  4. Val Adank says:

I think all these updates will be a nice refresh. I am concerned about Razzle Dazzle as it is the restaurant we visit the most. On our last cruise, we did brunch and dinner twice. I guess we will find out what Chinese Inspired means in January when we cruise next.

  5. Bret says:

The noted updates to the original Lady Ship do not address the real issues with full sailings. First, the restaurants have too little seating and cannot service a sold out ship. Second, the ships are already the most alcohol-centric of any cruise line, so adding a bar to the galley (buffet) is stupid. A premium non-alcoholic bar would have been a brilliant addition and would have greater revenue add. The existing cabanas have not been used by sailors since they look like circus tiger cages. Just get rid of the cabanas as they block views from the deck for everyone (this is what your provided private balcony and hammock are for). RD is the most unimpressive of the restaurants but the noted update does not sound significant. Adding a second hammock to the balconies sounded interesting but perhaps there is not enough room. Hopefully, the expansion of the casino will incorporate live/self-playing tables for Texas Hold’em. Although the space utilization of the Lady Ships is poor, with undersized pool and entertainment venues, this makeover will not significantly improve these shortcomings.

    1. Jon says:

If the existing cabanas aren’t what people are looking for I can see why they are thinking people might be looking for pool view cabanas instead.

      1. Bret says:

I think that the dry dock update reflects a sharpened focus on attracting wealthy couples willing to spend more for a pampered experience. Singles are going to be priced off the ships.

    2. Rob Sammons says:

I think the hope with the new Razzle menu is to encourage more people to book there since it’s one of the bigger restaurant.

The Cabanas on deck 15 have seen some use recently as they’re more actively promoting them in the app.

They are sorely lacking in non alcoholic options but I can’t see them ever making a bar exclusive to it.

  6. Rich says:

They will also be adding a mega rockstar only piano bar lounge on deck 15. Right behind cabin 15275A.

    1. Rob Sammons says:

Interesting, we haven’t heard this one and it’d be a shame to lose The Scene as its the only quiet space with no music, we’re already losing The Den

  7. Elaine Radloff says:

I love all of the upcoming changes to Scarlet Lady. Razzle Dazzle was one of my favorites on the two cruises I took in 2022. The new ideas seem very inspired and creative. I’m definitely envious of the sailors who will be enjoying the refreshed Scarlet lady!
