Ships in the Night Closes on Scarlet Lady
Ships in the Night ended its long run on Scarlet Lady, as further entertainment changes continue to shape the ship’s onboard lineup.
On the evening of September 19, 2025, Ships in the Night took its final bow aboard Scarlet Lady. First developed in 2019 and created exclusively for Virgin Voyages by acclaimed circus-arts collective The 7 Fingers, the show ended after more than four years of performances. Virgin Voyages has yet to report on any entertainment updates or closures that have been ongoing on Scarlet Lady.
One of Virgin Voyages’ Longest-Running Shows
Crafted by The 7 Fingers (also behind Duel Reality), Ships in the Night presented a thought-provoking take on how we interact with one another in daily life. The production invited audiences to reflect on the way we pass strangers without ever truly understanding their individual stories. Blending stylized movement with projection and sound, it became one of the fleet’s most enduring shows.

What Was Ships in the Night?
Ships in the Night was performed in The Red Room and offered a fully seated theatrical experience. Compared to Virgin Voyages’ other immersive or interactive productions, this show followed a more traditional format with a focus on choreography, music, and visuals.
The production combined expressive contemporary dance with a curated soundtrack and high-concept digital projections. These elements worked together to explore the impact—or insignificance—of chance encounters on our personal journeys. Performers moved across the stage and through visual landscapes that shifted and responded to the emotion of each scene, using technology to enhance rather than overshadow the storytelling.
This thoughtful balance of movement, sound, and visual design set Ships in the Night apart as a reflective alternative within the onboard entertainment lineup.

Director’s Statement
As the show came to an end, director and co-founder of The 7 Fingers, Gypsy Snider, shared her reflection on Instagram alongside a behind the scenes video:
“Our show ‘Ships in the Night’ will dock for the last time. The journey began over six years ago and told a story of longing—for connection and self-fulfillment. I wanted the experience to provoke the audience to see themselves more completely, and to realize that the ‘sea change’ they were seeking on Virgin Voyages might not be about transformation, but about embracing all that they are and all they can possibly be.
I wanted to prove that a cruise ship show could be vulnerable and emotionally driven. Virgin’s vision has always been to make their sailors feel connected to community and humanity, and we leaned into that with Ships in the Night.
The creative production team and crew brought their all to the development and running of this experience. These dancers and our dear MCs have always given their bodies, hearts, and souls to this show.
As we take our final bow, may the spirit of Ships in the Night continue to sail within all who shared in its journey.”

Cast and Crew Say Goodbye
The final performance on Scarlet Lady was marked by social media tributes from cast, crew, and sailors who had connected with the show across multiple sailings.

Scarlet’s Entertainment Lineup in Transition
The closure of Ships in the Night follows the end of UNTITLED DANCESHOWPARTYTHING, which also completed its run on Scarlet Lady last week. Together, these two retirements signal an upcoming shift in Scarlet Lady’s entertainment program.
As we previously reported, Persephone is expected to debut on Scarlet Lady soon, following its popular performances on Resilient Lady. Another new listing, Once Upon a Showgirl, has also appeared in event schedules, although no further details have been released.
Virgin Voyages has not yet confirmed what will replace Ships in the Night, but changes to the onboard lineup are clearly underway.
