Virgin Voyages is introducing a new daily pricing option for its Work from Sea Wi-Fi service — a change that gives more control to sailors who only need high-speed internet for short periods during their voyage.

Until now, the only way to access this top-tier connection was through a full Voyage Pass, charged per day for the entire sailing. That lack of flexibility had been a common complaint since the introduction of Work from Sea, especially from those who only needed strong connectivity for a day or two.

What is Work from Sea Wi-Fi?

Work from Sea is the most powerful onboard Wi-Fi tier, offering unlimited access for everything the Premium tier includes, along with VPN support, online gaming, and work-related video calls like Zoom or Google Meet. This tier is designed for those who need consistent, high-performance internet and is only available for purchase once onboard.

Virgin Voyages introduced the Work from Sea Wi-Fi tier in January 2025, and it’s been a somewhat controversial addition as it split up aspects that were included in the premium plan.

While the service itself meets the needs of those requiring strong internet, the requirement to purchase it for every day of the voyage drew criticism from sailors who only needed occasional access particularly on longer voyages.

Day Pass Pricing Options

  • Day Pass: $60 for 24 hours
  • Voyage Pass: $50 per day for the rest of the length of the sailing

Device Access

Most sailors will be able to connect one device with either pass. Those with Deep Blue Extras, 485C status, or who pre-purchased Premium Wi-Fi may connect up to two devices. For Mega RockStars, Work from Sea is included for two devices. There is currently no upgrade path but murmurs have been circling on Reddit that sailors have had some success when speaking to Sailor Services.

Up to Date Wi-Fi Guide

Premium and basic Wi-Fi plans remain unchanged, and basic service continues to be included with every booking.
