Six Things To Look Forward To With Virgin Voyages In 2026
A look ahead at six key updates shaping Virgin Voyages in 2026, from ship changes to new itineraries and experiences.
2025 was a year that kept the Virgin Voyages community busy. Brilliant Lady officially launched, onboard entertainment evolved again, and fleet wide changes drove a lot of questions and debate.
If you missed it, you can catch up on our full 2025 roundup, then come back for what is next.
With all four ships now sailing, 2026 looks like a year of firsts, refinements, and more variety across the fleet. Here are the stories we are watching most closely.
1. Valiant Lady Heads To Dry Dock In May
Valiant Lady is confirmed to enter dry dock from May 9 to May 25, 2026. This marks her first major refresh since launch and comes ahead of a busy Europe season of sailings later in the year including stops in Iceland and Greenland.
While dry docks always include routine maintenance, these periods often bring guest facing changes too. Early signs point to at least one new dining concept, potentially following the same approach seen with Rojo and Lucky Lotus, alongside smaller space updates across the ship.
We will be covering everything that changes, what stays the same, and what it means for future sailings as more details are confirmed.

2. Eclipse Sailings In The Med And Iceland
Virgin Voyages has two rare total solar eclipse sailings planned for August 2026, offering the chance to experience the event at sea rather than from land.
Scarlet Lady will sail a Mediterranean itinerary timed for the August 10 eclipse, positioning the ship to maximise viewing conditions during a sailing through Southern Europe.
Valiant Lady will also host an eclipse voyage on August 5, sailing around Iceland and nearby regions. This itinerary offers a very different setting, with dramatic landscapes and longer daylight hours shaping the experience.

3. Virgin Voyages Sails The Panama Canal For The First Time
March 2026 marks a major milestone as Virgin Voyages transits the Panama Canal for the first time. The sailing takes place aboard Brilliant Lady on a longer itinerary that bridges the Atlantic and Pacific. She will also return later this year for the second sailing back to Miami.
Panama Canal voyages are among the most iconic in cruising and represent a step into more traditional, destination heavy itineraries for the brand. This sailing also sets the stage for Brilliant Lady’s next chapter on the West Coast.

4. Alaska First Season
Following the Panama Canal sailing and the LA MerMaiden season, Alaska becomes one of the most anticipated next steps for Virgin Voyages.
The brand has already previewed what Alaska will look like, including a wide range of shore things focused on scenery, wildlife, culture, and local experiences. Expect a strong emphasis on destination immersion paired with Virgin Voyages’ onboard style.
Once Virgin Voyages sets sail we’ll breakdown what to expect onboard in cooler climates.

5. More Entertainment And Scarlet Night On Land
Entertainment continues to be a major focus heading into 2026. Virgin Voyages has confirmed that more shows and concepts are in development, both onboard and on land.
2025 raised the bar, with new productions on Brilliant Lady including Up With A Twist and Murder In The Manor, the debut of Booked! on Scarlet Lady, and refreshed club nights on Valiant Lady.
In 2026, this expands further with land based Scarlet Night events and new productions designed to work beyond the ship itself.

6. A Growing Calendar Of Specialty Sailings
Specialty sailings are becoming a core part of the Virgin Voyages calendar, and 2026 looks set to continue that trend.
The year is expected to begin with wellbeing focused voyages in January, followed by themed sailings tied to music, culture, and major global events. Summer will feature pride & sport inspired programming, while September leans into Eat and Drink focused voyages plus the traditional Halloween and Holiday Edition sailings.
October rounds out the year with Halloween sailings, which have become one of the most consistent seasonal highlights.

Looking Ahead
Virgin Voyages enters 2026 with its four ship fleet fully operational. That brings more flexibility, but also higher expectations with more destinations, improvements on board and refurbishments coming!
As always, VV Insider will continue to track every update as details become official.
